Is canned fruit okay to eat if I can't eat most fresh fruits?

Hello. I have had a problem eating fresh fruit for quite a while now and am limited to strawberries, grapes, and bananas. Anytime I eat any other type of fresh fruit my mouth and throat will start burning and won't stop until many hours later. Does anyone know what could be going on? Ironically though I can eat any fruits if they are canned so would it be better if I buy the canned variety and rinse it with water than to not eat any fruit at all?

You probably have an allergy to some emzime in the fresh fruit. Canning kills most of these enzimes. Canned fruit still has most of the fiber and nutrients of fresh fruit. The best canned fruit to buy is "in fruit juice" or "light syrup". Don't get fruit in "heavy syrup". Any fruit is better than no fruit at all.
Reply:Have you spoken with your doctor about possibly being allergic to the other fruits?
Reply:could be allergic, or it could be that other fruits contain more acid (citric), or possibly that they're causing acid reflux. Most likely you are allergic, and I doubt changing the way the fruit is cooked would help. Ask your Dr. for an allergy test, and what he/she recommends.
Reply:yes also frozen fruit is good all you do is defrost and microwave or add to favorite meals thats it
Reply:I can some what identify with you

and

YES

The simple processing (even in water) will eliminate the irritants.

I THINK it has to do with sex products in plants LIKE pollens
Reply:I've been told that the best fruits are: 1. Fresh 2. Frozen 3. canned.

Canned products contain a lot of sodium and not everyone wants that. Rinsing first does help a little.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.
Reply:Canned , frozen %26amp; dried fruit has very near the same amount of nutrients as fresh. Perhaps it is the acid in the fresh fruits that cause your symptoms. The water or syrup in the canned fruit would leach out some of the fruit acid, so rinsing them is a good idea. I'm not sure about frozen fruit; most is flash frozen so there may be just as much acid as fresh, and the same for dried. If you cook the fresh/ frozen/dried fruit, then rinse, it may relieve your symptoms as well.
Reply:i have a friend whos allergic to fruit but she can eat fruit if its canned, frozen cooked or whatever. she just cant eat raw fruit.
