Jello and fruit?

I'm asking for my grandfather, actually.

Can someone tell me where I can find the recipe to make jello with fruit in it?

He says he's tried it before with canned pears and it didn't turn out correctly. One of his concerns is whether or not the juices added inside the can will affect the outcome. Is there any difference between canned fruit and fresh fruit in relation to jello recipes?

Also, if you know of any specific treatment needed for a specific type of fruit, please provide that information also.

Thank you!

Jello and fruit?
I do this all the time. It will set better if you use fresh fruit (except pineapple) and slightly less water.

Canned pineapple and can pears can be used, either separately or together. See the recipe at the first site below.

Check out the other sites for specific instructions and recipes.
Reply:I would probably drain the fruit, if it is canned. But I prefer using fresh, cut up fruit. All you do is make the regular Jello liquid and before you refrigerate it, just drop the fruit in!!! (I think at least)
Reply:Any kind of canned fruit is fine in Jell-o. Drain off the liquid and just use the fruit.

If the fruit is packed in light syrup, you could substitute the juice for the cold water in the Jell-o.

Avoid fresh pineapple. (Canned is OK.) The enzymes prevent the Jell-o from setting.

There are a couple other fresh fruits that will also prevent the gelling but I don't remember what they are. Go to the Jell-o website.
Reply:Usually, Jello is made with one cup of boiling water and one cup of cold water. If you use the juice contained in the fruit can, you should drain the juice into your measuring cup first then finish with cold water to make the one cup of cold water. If you add the juice from the can and still add the cup of cold water, the Jello will not properly set up in the refrigerator.

Almost any fruit, fresh, canned or frozen can be used in Jello. The only exception I know of is fresh pineapple. Fresh pineapple contains some citric product that will not allow the Jello to set properly. Canned pineapple is OK.
Reply:If you use fresh pineapple in a jello salad, it will NEVER set up! There are tons of recipes for jello with fruit; just do an Internet search on jello salads and you'll be amazed!
Reply:Drain the fruit well. Then replace the water called for with the juice adding water needed to make full amount needed. Follow directions on box from there. Put jello in frig until partially jelled and then add drained fruit. Stir well and allow to complete jelling process.

Pineapple (both fresh and canned) has an enzyme that prevents jelling. Fresh kiwi will also keep it from jelling.

Are tropical fruit more nutritious than traditional Western fruit?

What special vitamins or minerals are contained in such tropical fruits as the mango, pine, guava, passio fruit and are these as nourishing as traditional fruit such as apples, peaches and plums.

Are tropical fruit more nutritious than traditional Western fruit?
i think the tropical fruits would be more healthier and have more vitamins and minerals in them..also they have not been treated with insecticide either...i love home grown watermelon though and i think it is really good for you and it is good if you have low blood sugar...
Reply:More nutritious, I'd think not. Modern production has given us larger, brighter fruit, probably with higher vitamin A content than tropical fruits. But, then again I really like the TASTE of tropical fruit when I am in the Caribbean.
Reply:This month's issue of Men's Health magazine has a one page article on this topic, can't find it right now or I would list which ones are better
Reply:Lemons are the most healthy food you can eat. Try a drop of lemon in your water to keep you from retaining it, and fit lemon into your diet whenever possible.
Reply:I believe they are more nutritious ... they're unspoiled as in No pesticides etc..

Should seedless fruit should be illegal?

Seedless fruit is an abomination to God!

Genesis 1:29-30

Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.

Only fruit with seeds in it and seed bearing plants are ours for food. Seedless plants and fruit comes from the devil. Those that eat seedless grapes and watermelons be forwarned... You might end up in a place that is hot... for erternity...

LOL

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

Should seedless fruit should be illegal?
stupid question.
Reply:not an answer Report It

Reply:i can only advise ya legally, mosters are noisy, and tricky to clean up aftah.
Reply:LOL. Thanks I needed that.

I eat seedless grapes. I guess I'm going to hell.
Reply:Separation of church and state. What next people who do not believe on god illegal.
Reply:seedless watermelons kick butt. Someplace hot? Arizona? That WOULD suck.
Reply:Seedless fruit? What makes the seedless fruit, is fruit that already has seeds. But the seeds are taken out, you see? by hand or by machine. The seedless fruit you buy at the grocery store had to come from somewhere. And that somewhere was fruit that already had seeds in it.

Your scripture reference is pointless: Remember Biblical law is different from government law. You are quoting a passage from the Old Testament which many people consider to be the Old law, though there are some people who follow it still. However, the New law for many Christians is in the New Testament "Love is the law."

I do agree that your question isn't all that great. But I think you might want to try to think before you ask a question. I'm not trying to be rude, but it does seem a little absurd to me, that you didn't take time consider where the seedless fruit originally came from.
Reply:personally, i dont believe in god, or a higher power.. however, i do believe that people should be able to make their own informed decisions.

i also believe that there should be a separation of church and state. the government should not make decisions based of a book that not everyone in the country abides by.

if people truly believe that eating seedless fruit will send them to hell, they shouldnt eat it. it should be a personal choice of what you eat, not the governments.

What is "fruit that will last"? John 15:16 (NIV)?

"You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last." John 15:16 (NIV)

How has John 15 borne fruit in your life as a Christian? What does "fruit that will last" mean to you? Again, I am looking for real experiences, not pat answers or mere theology.

How does this tie in to John 14:21 %26amp; 23?

What is "fruit that will last"? John 15:16 (NIV)?
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance; against such there is no law (Galatians 5:22).

Although I cannot honestly say that all of these fruits have developed and matured within me, I can say that I can see how God has planted these seeds in my life and how they are growing.

I raised 4 daughters as a single parent and of course I had my rough times and I prayed and asked God for His peace, you know, the peace that passeth all understanding (Phillipians 4:7) because I honestly thought I was losing my mind. God has moved through the years in my life and placed me a position where I enjoy true peace. My mind is becoming more clear and I can think on the things of God. I can speak peace into the lives of my children who are now raising their own families and they actually listen (surprise!) as I share with them the Word of God. They apply these lessons in their own lives and they too enjoy some peace. This is one of the fruits that will last because as I learn, I teach my children who will in turn teach their children and so on. This is only one example of the fruit that He is bringing to bear in my life. The others are also becoming manifest and as they manifest themselves with me, I pass them on to those around me who will in turn pass them on. Others have commented to me about how I handle everyday situations with gentleness, love, kindness, faith, etc. And, sometimes I'm not even really aware of these actions. But, these are fruits that are being made manifest in my life and as they are shared with those around me and they partake (enjoy) this fruit, they will in turn share with those around them and the cycle will continue. This is how the fruits will last.
Reply:John 15: 16 ends with "I command you to love each other."

In 1 Corinthians 13: 8 we are told Love will last forever, but prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will all disappear.

Each of these are fruits of the spirit and only Love will last.
Reply:Things that you do in life for others with out expecting something in return, things that you do for show or self motivation will is considered bad fruit.
Reply:Jesus is talking about the fruit of the Spirit.
Reply:'Fruit that will last' means saved souls. Souls that are going to have eternal live and shall never be overcome by death. Souls where the Spirit of the Lord resides and are loved by God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thus we are chosen by our Lord Jesus Christ to go and get new and saved souls. Some people say it born again souls.

Do tinned fruits such as pears count towards a portion of fruit for a toddler?

My little girl eats really well, has plenty of fresh fruit (apples, bananas, grapes, pineapple, oranges etc) and loads of veg (mived in with sauces and accompanying meals). She loves pears - but it's so hard to buy them ripe or keep them, they're either hard as bullets or soft and starting to go brown. They seem good for about a day! She loves tinned pears with yoghurt for tea - I buy them in grape juice (she eats them without the juice anyway) - are they ok for little ones as a fruit portion. We also love the frozen blueberries, defrost a little pot in the fridge and mix with yoghurt for pudding - are these similar in nutrional value to fresh fruit? Thanks

Do tinned fruits such as pears count towards a portion of fruit for a toddler?
Nutritionally very little difference! I personally dont like fresh pears unless they are perfect( i know im picky) but do like the canned ones. Its the same for peaches- I love them but when fresh they are often not ripe then Id rather have the canned kind. You can buy adults pears and just cut them for her and its a lot cheaper and you get more.
Reply:Yes. All you have to do is open the can and rinse it under the cold tap to get rid of the added sugar. Incidentally I prefer tinned Broad Beans to fresh or frozen and rinse them to get rid of the added salt.
Reply:yes.
Reply:Yes
Reply:i would say yes, its good that she eats them i wouldn't worry too much
Reply:Yep ~ it's a fruit.
Reply:Canned is fine. Just try and get the ones that have not been packed in syrup because of the excess in sugar.

Frozen fruits nowadays is flash frozen so there is no loss in vitamins and nutrients. So don't feel bad at all giving her canned and frozen when the fresh isn't easily accessible.
Reply:yes and no...

They do have fruit content.

They also typically have tons of added sugar, so you have to count them as a candy bar too.

Some frozen foods are BETTER than "fresh" they get picked closer to actually being ripe, then are frozen the same day (often within an hour) "Fresh" has to get picked early so they will not be over-ripe by the time they get to the store.
Reply:Yes,it's still fruit weather preserved or not, all other canned fruits are just as wholesome as fresh.
Reply:i don't know about frozen fruit and vegetables. But I hear tinned isn't as good as they are made out to be. I mean think about it. They must have been in there for a long time, so it stands to reason that they might not be as nutritious as fresh

I still eat tinned fruit and veg when I fancy it, but I usually eat fresh as possible. that's my two cents.
Reply:You can also rinse some of the liquid juice off under water, since they may have added sugars to help preserve the fruit.
Reply:As long as its not in syrup then as far as i know it still counts! Never did me any harm as a kid anyway!!!
Reply:: )
Reply:Yes as long as they are not the packed in heavy syrup they meet the requirements. Sometime they are more nutritious because fresh fruits and veggies lose vitamins every day are becoming ripe.
Reply:as long as its just juice and not a lot of sugary syrup rubbish that they're canned in. x
Reply:yes, they are a great source of fruit, even canned.
Reply:Sounds like she eats loads of fruit and veg thats fresh. The tinned pears do have added sugar, so keep it as a low portion...........you should put a mini pear tree in the garden. You'll be amazed how quikly you get the fruit...........we have way more than we can eat. And you don't get much fresher than that!
Reply:You are lucky to have a child with such a great attitude towards food. Canned fruit is OK as long as there is no added sugar. The nutritional value is pretty close.
Reply:Yep.. its still fruit!
Reply:yes they do
Reply:yes, just make sure they are not in a lot of sugar.

Is something infecting my fruit bowl? Is it okay to eat? HELP!?

A few days ago i noticed something on my fruit. I looked again but it was gone. It looked a little like a big black slug.

I wake up the next day and the fruit is a little black. I blend it in a smoothie and it is okay.

Then i wake up today and the walls by it are going mouldy, and the fruit is mostly black. The fruitbowl has rusted and moulded.

If i was this fruit will it be okay to eat? I payed alot for my fruit! Or does it have a deadly desiese?

Eww! sounds a bit dodgy to me. Do you live in a cave? Sounds like you have a bit of a damp problem? How about keeping your fruit in the fridge and getting the builders in
Reply:don't eat it! don't eat it! please! if you saw something on it and it is all black and mouldy, chuck it in the bin! i know you payed a lot for it but it's better to lose a bit of money than being ill! get a new fruit bowl with new fruit and see if it is any better =] x

I've seen people eating a variety of fruit for breakfast? Like a whole plate. Is this to much fruit? Like should I mix it up with watermelon, and fruits like that? Or just one apple, or a banana? Please advise me what kinds of fruits i see people eating. Thanks!

I've heard eating fruit for breakfast is healthy. What kind of fruit should I eat?
I would say watermelon is good cuz it mainly water sooo its calorie content is very little. I would switch it up. Oranges r relle good cuz the water content. Fruits w/ more water r healthier. Also, fruits r relle healthy cuz they have sooo many vitamins!!! Apples, oranges, pears, and peaches r relle filling. If ur eating a banana then i would suggest eating a few grapes w/ it or something!

Always same: juice presses fresh, as much as desirable, up to 14 ounce; fresh succulence as much as desirable, or salad fruit; when do you very hungry. When not make difficult, sometimes fun replaced fruit every day that eaten at morning

Lunch

Fresh fruit juice, or carrot juice, 4 - 8 ounce, when does desirable. Salad with fresh vegetable addition desirable and combination sandwich with cucumber or celery.

Dinner

Fresh vegetable cocktail juice, soup cream cauliflower. Potato boat or simple grilled chicken. Garlic flavor string bean. Salad green French.

I read this menu from this blog
Reply:Hey Babe, I always eat fruits for breakfast. Every morning I start out with a banana, then some grapes and a grapefruit.

I don't think any fruits is too much, it's healthy for you and you can switch if you'd like the taste of a different fruit other than eating the same fruits every day.
Reply:all fruit is good for you. it doesn't really matter in terms of health. now if you were specifically looking for something like antioxidants, i would go with a berry blend. something light and juicy--citrus or melon. something with lots of fiber and a little heavier--banana. artichoke isn't sweet, but if sweet isn't your thing, grab the artichoke. or you could go with the old standby: apple.
Reply:Well a banana or maybe agrapefruit or a half of grapefruit in the morning maybe a small bowl of mix fruit like pineapples, grapes with a couple of strawberry mix for lunchor wht ever kind of fruit you like not a hold plate of kind at one time
Reply:Banana is probably the best fruit for breakfast, gave you high amount of potassium, and good amount of calories, gave you enought energy, that's why many peoples said eat a banana prior taking a exam.

Strawberries(3-4)

Pineapple

These are also less-likely to give you mid-day bad breath. Although, if you are like King Louie and, Have a Banana. Take a breath mint with you to work.
Reply:I eat blueberries almost everyday with a high fiber cereal. Blueberries are lower in sugar than most fruit and really pack an "anti-oxidant punch".
Reply:Eat whatever fruit you like!

i usually have a banana, or a banana and an apple if im particularly hungry or am having a later lunch that day
Reply:try eating a couple hard boiled eggs with fruit. If you just eat fruit, it gives you a boost in blood sugar, which can be bad in some cases.
Reply:Eating fruit at any time is healthy. It's not like it's healthy for breakfast but bad for you for lunch.
Reply:One single kind of fruit at a time -- and eat it 15 minutes before you eat anything else, like a carbohydrate.
Reply:Bananas - very high in energy
Reply:Any kind of fruit is good any time of day.
Reply:I would say any kind you want, but have oatmeal every morning with it. Very good for you..
Reply:i have pineapple grapes and strawberries there the best fruits
Reply:What should breakfast consist of?

How do you avoid fruit flies in citrus fruit trees?

We're just about to rent a property in Spain with an orchard of orange, lemon %26amp; grapefruit trees and I'm worried about fruit fly maggots infesting the lovely fruit. I've almost ended up drinking the little blighters once before - having juiced infected fruit before I knew of their existence - and I need to know how to ensure my own fruit is worry free, as I don't want to waste it but also don't want a repeat performance of my juiced nightmare! Please help! Thanks

How do you avoid fruit flies in citrus fruit trees?
The farmers of Gozo put up into each tree these yellow plastic bottles from sunflower oil filled with about 20 ml of acetico balsamico mixed with about 50 ml orange juice and coated with a stripe of glue. The fruit flies and some other insects are attracted from yellow color and either are drowned in the liquid or stick to the glue.

Its a cheap and effective trap.

Inside you can pour the same mixture of juice and vinegar in a jar covered with perforated saran wrap or a clove-larded lemon and place near to your fruits.

The best method is to cover all fruits inside, the fruit flies will starve in one day.
Reply:well i have a green grocer shop and in in the summer i get the same problem. i spray a mist or water on the fruit as the fruit flies seem not to like this. good luck
Reply:You need to trap as many of the blighters as you can early in the season with bait, before they breed.

Most types of fruit flies prefer over-ripe fruit, so be careful not to leave rotting fruit around if you can.

Is ALL fruit healthy?

i just wondered if ALL fruit is healthy for you? Are some fruits healthy than others and if so, which ones? Are fruits fat free? Which fruits carry more natural sugars than others?

Is ALL fruit healthy?
yeah, i think so.
Reply:In every aspect of your diet it is important to keep an appropriate balance. Not all fruits are fat free (avocados, for example, have a high content of fat). Some of them can be very heavy on some parts of your body. For example, mangoes can be heavy for your liver. Bananas and grapes have a high content of sugar. That doesn't mean that fruits are not healthy, but you need to know how much fruit to eat and when. Let me give you an example. Raisins are fabulous for your digestive system (they make you very regular in going to the bathroom), but too may of them, and you could end up with a diarrea.

Also, most fruits are not very high in calories, but if you eat tons of fruit, then those few calories add up and could end up becoming lots of calories.

So, you need to keep a good balance of what you eat, even with fruit.

But don't misunderstand me. Fruit is probably one of the most healthy things that you can eat. And of course, if your choice is between a banana or a donut, go for the banana!

Check the link down here to find out about nutritional info on many foods, including fruit.
Reply:Most fruit is healthy , see the previous answers

Oranges are high in Vitamin C, the best fruit is a Banana as it is high in glucose. If you are on a diet Kiwi fruits have negative calories as it takes energy to break it up
Reply:I think they're all healthy - but avocados are not recommended if your on a diet as they have a lot of calories.
Reply:You may not believe it, but beefburgers are healthy, as long as it is balance with other food groups. Your body requires salts, sugars, fats, proteins, vitamins, iron, and all sorts of minerals. Things containing fats are only considered unhealthy because in recent decades people have been getting too much fat without balancing it up with other dietary requirements. Also definitions of "healthy" can depend on your objectives... If you are looking to build muscle fats are the best way to go (and far more healthy than steroids)

To answer your question however, it is recommended to eat 5 portions of fruit and veg a day, so as long as it is you have these moderate portions it will help to keep many illnesses away.
Reply:Maybe not all fruits

Remember, some fruits ARE poisonous

Some people say bananas are a good source of glucose
Reply:One fruit is definitely not healthy: the durian.

It smells rank (the smell's been described as a cross between a soiled nappy and a dead rat), it makes you sweat and feel feverish and you'll smell like the fruit for days after eating it. Eating more than you can handle (a couple of pods would be way more than enough for most people) and you'll be ill.

But I love it!

Look it up.
Reply:Most fruits are good for you they all give you engery
Reply:All are good, and as with anything, all are good in moderation as part of a balanced diet
Reply:All contain natural sugars i think. Advocado pears are high in calories. Grapes and bananas are quite high too.
Reply:avacado pears are very high in calories.

and taste like wet socks
Reply:no!
Reply:Too many Carrots Turn You Orange
Reply:Tricky question.

Your body need balance all minerals, vitamins and so on and also there are a lot of particularities like Vitamin C. Your body does not "store" C Vitamin and then, you need replace it with certain regularity. If you take more than necessary, it will goes out without being stored. (Half orage has enough C Vitamin)

Quantity isn't the key. Each fruit has own specific component. Banana has potassium (K) and helps to fix Calcium (Ca) into your bones. (Combined action). Castanha do Para (Brazilian Nuts) has Selenium (Se) and its good to help against depression. Acerola has 10 times more C Vitmanin than orange- but why do you need so much?

Key is balance your meals. Eat with variety and plus legums, greens and proteins are good to your health.

Be aware about chemicals within those fruits. Organics are better.... (Probably I'll naver take an organic, there are a lot of misunderstandings and peculiarities and I do not trust in human beens when we talk about money).
Reply:As fruit is natural I would say it was all good for you but too much isnt. All fruits are high in sugar and some fruit acids interfere with digestion and medications. Strawberrys, melons and bananas have alot of sugar in them.Apples contain alot of acid - not sure about the others but its all a case of moderation xxxxx
Reply:I have a feeling avacados aren't that great as they have a high fat content.
Reply:Bananas can be fattening, and apples are quite high in fruit sugar
Reply:Most fruit is good for in quantities. Natural are always better for you and processed for certian. I believe the majority of them are at least low fat or no fat. Sugar occurs naturally in the majority of them, the higher ones being water melon (many melons) and bananas.

Non-alcoholic fruit punch with real fruit juices recipe?

I have been looking for the perfect fruit punch recipe all day. I guess I am having a hard time because I have special requirements.

I want a recipe that does NOT use fruit juice concentrate. It has to be real fruit juices. And I need a recipe that doesn't use things like jello or kool-aid. Just real juice.

I prefer either soda water or sprite/7-up but, will settle for ginger ale. Also no ice cream or sherbet.

It is a tall order to fill! Anyone know of a good recipe that sounds like what I want?

Thanks in advance!

Non-alcoholic fruit punch with real fruit juices recipe?
Ok! I'll try to answer the question. I always make only non-alcoholic fruit punch and its delicious. Of course, I make it with fruit concentrates so I'll have to change the recipe for you.

Let's just assume that you don't want to buy any fruit juices, since I don't know what you prefer. You can make the recipe with store bought juices though!

1 cup of Orange juice

1 cup of Pineapple juice

1 cup of Mango juice

1 cup peach juice

1 cup passion fruit juice

1 cup of sweet lemonade

1 medium sized bottle of ginger ale

2 really ripe mashed bananas

Finely cut washed strawberries

1 pack of Rasberry

Finely chopped mint leaves

Since you don't add any concentrates, you may need to check for sweetness. You can make a sugar syrup with 1:1 ratio of Sugar and water, boil it well and add to the mix. Cool it for atleast 3-4 hrs and serve it with ice cubes.

Note: Depending on how many people you are going to serve it for, increase or reduce the amounts of juices you are adding and also the fresh fruits.

Enjoy!

I am planning on making a fruit dessert for Christmas. Any recommendations/suggestions?

I have come across a fruit dessert recipe in a recipe book of my sister's. I don't want to make it exactly the way this recipe calls for but I would like to come as close to the recipe as I can. It calls for several different kinds of fruit -- blueberries, strawberries, seedless green grapes, carambola (star fruit), kiwi, shredded cocunut, lemon juice or lime juice, lemon peel or lime peel and other fruits (I think). It also calls for slivered almonds (which I can't use because I am allergic to almonds and other nuts). There might be other ingredients to this recipe but if there are, I can't recall them.

Anyway, this is basically what this recipe calls for. The thing is,

some of the fruit it calls for might be out of season or expensive to buy at supermarkets. My sister suggested that I use frozen fruit, in lieu of fresh fruit. What do you think about that idea? I'm not sure what else I could do, besides this.

So, anyone have any ideas for my dessert? I'd really appreciate it.

I am planning on making a fruit dessert for Christmas. Any recommendations/suggestions?
go to www.wisteme.com, click the search button, input "fruit, dessert" in the column of keywords. then there will be many recipes of fruits dessert. hope it can help you.
Reply:You didn't specify exactly what type you want aside from fruit, so one of my favorite desserts is pavlova, and it is delicious! It is made of a meringue base loaded with berried and other fruit, and I serve it with whipped heavy cream on top. Some people make a flat sheet of meringue and do it roulade style, but I think it looks prettier if you make the meringue into the shape of a round cake layer and build it up around the edge, and put all the fruit in the center. It is really simple, only need the egg whites, sugar, cream of tartar for the base, and then the fruit, and cream if you like. It is fine to make it with frozen fruit, when I have done this, I have heated the frozen fruit in a saucepan with a little sugar and some kind of liquor-rum, perhaps (but no alcohol is necessary!), and then used it that way. Sorry to be so long-winded!
Reply:WHats really good is fruit pizza! Cresent crust, cream cheese "sauce" and fruit toppings! Delicious and appeals lots of taste buds

How can I make a fruit topping w/peaches,pineapple,cherries,s... yeast for a fermented fruit topping?

A long time ago maybe 20 years I had a starting of a fruit topping for icream or cake that you added canned fruit peaches or other things and left it set for a few weeks on the counter top and then used as needed to top off icream or cake.It had a small alcohol content .I would like to make this from the start buy dont know how.I dont want to just add brandy that is cheating.I have looked under fruit topping,Brandied fruit, fruit compote, and have run out of key words to use and cannot find this reciepe.

How can I make a fruit topping w/peaches,pineapple,cherries,s... yeast for a fermented fruit topping?
Recipe One

Basic Fruit Starter

Here is a brandied fruit which can be used as a topping or in cakes.

The fruit, sugar and brandy ferment over a 4-week period of time.

Be sure not to cap the mixture tightly and make sure you stir it daily.

Lick the spoon after stirring for a jump-start to your daily activities!

Starter:

In a large (one gallon) jar, combine:

1 cup cubed canned pineapple

1 cup sugar

2 tablespoons brandy

Let these ingredients sit in the jar for two weeks, stirring daily.

At the end of two weeks, add:

1 cup maraschino cherries, including juice

1 cup sugar

2 tablespoons brandy

Let the mixture sit two more weeks, stirring daily.

The fourth week, add:

1 cup sliced, canned peaches, including juice

1 cup sugar

2 tablespoons brandy

Let the mixture sit for two more weeks, stirring daily.

Separate the liquid from the fruit. The liquid is your starter and you can use the fruit on ice cream or cake. Now you are ready to prepare the fruit for the cakes (recipe below). DO NOT refrigerate the starter liquid.

Recipe Two

You can start Rumtopf in May or June and use as the fruits begin fermenting with the rum and sugar. Just remember to replenish the mixture with more fruit and sugar as it is used. Blueberries and apples are the only fruits which do not do well in rumtopf.

SUITABLE FRUITS:strawberries, whole raspberries/blackberries, whole sour cherries, pitted apricots, unpeeled, halved peaches, peeled and quartered pears, peeled and quartered pineapple, chunked

OTHER INGREDIENTS1 bottle good quality rum

4 to 5 liter stoneware crock or porcelain pot (not glass).

Sugar

Wash and drain well 1 pound of fresh, ripe strawberries. Add 1 cup sugar, mix gently, let stand 1 hour before placing into crock. Place fruit in pot and add 1 bottle rum. Place a saucer on top of the fruit and let stand in cool, dark place. Stir very gently once or twice over the next two weeks. Every two weeks add another in-season fruit, some sugar and rum as needed : 1 pound washed and drained fresh fruit + 1 cup sugar and enough rum to cover by 1/2". Although Advent is the traditional time to begin sampling the Rumtopf, it can be used at any time and the ingredients refreshed with the addition of more fruit, sugar and rum. Remember, however, that after the addition of the fresh fruit it takes AT LEAST 2 weeks before fermentation is well under way again. The longer you allow the mixture to stand and ferment, the richer the Rumtopf. THAT is why the Rumtopf is traditionally begun in May or June and eaten during the Christmas season..6 months of richness!!!

30 Day Cake

Day 1: Pour 1 pt of starter in a glass gallon jar. Add a lg can of sliced peaches with its juice. Cut each slice into 4 pieces. Add 2 1/2 cups sugar %26amp; stir every day for 10 days. (Cover jar with saucer %26amp; leave sitting out at room temperature.)

Day 10: Add 1 16oz can of pineapple pieces with juice. Cut each piece in half. Add 2 1/2 cups sugar %26amp; stir every day for 10 days. Color will change %26amp; fruit will foam when stirred.

Day 20: Add 2 small jars of marachino cherries, sliced in half. Do not add juice. Add 2 1/2 cups of sugar %26amp; stir a final 10 days.

Day 31: These are the ingredients you will need:

3 boxes Duncan Hines Golden Cake Mix

3 boxes Vanilla Instant Pudding

1 dozen eggs

1 small bottle cooking oil

3 cups raisins

3 cups walnuts

3 cups pecans

3 cups coconut

Step 1: Preheat oven to 300º. Grease %26amp; flour 3 tube pans.

Step 2: Drain fruit in bowl. Put juice in 3 pint jars. These are the starters. Freeze (1 year) if not using in 3 days.

Step 3: For each cake mix 1 box of cake mix, 1 box pudding, 4 eggs, 2/3 cup oil and 1 1/2 cups drained fruit. Stir with spoon. Add one cup each of remaining ingredients. Bake 55-60 minutes.

Recipe Three

Friendship Fruit Starter

Ingredients:

20 oz. can pineapple chunks, drained

16 oz. can peach slices, drained

16 oz. can apricot halves, drained

10 oz. jar maraschino cherries, drained

1 1/4 cups sugar

1 1/4 cups brandy

Variation: Substitute canned fruit cocktail, mandarin oranges or pears.

Instructions:

Combine all ingredients in a clean, large glass jar. Stir gently with wooden spoon. Cover and let stand at room temperature for three weeks, stirring at least twice a week

Serve over ice cream or pound cake, use in recipes or feed as directed. To keep the starter going, retain at least three cups at all times.

To feed and maintain:

Stir mixture daily. Add one cup sugar and one cup of pineapple, peaches or cherries every two weeks, alternating fruits each time and stirring gently.

Brandy should not be required. Do not add fruit more often than once every two weeks. Do not delay adding fruit for more than one or two days past schedule.

Cover and let stand at room temperature at least three days before using. Fruit is fermented when it is translucent. To store, keep in warm place. Makes about nine cups.

To share: Whenever you have more than six cups of fermented fruit, you may divide it into two portions, being sure there are at least three cups in each portion. Do this just before you would do a normal feeding. Feed each portion. Give one portion to a friend and keep one for yourself.
Reply:OH gosh, I remember those! I don't have the recipe anymore but I just had to share with you, that all my gal pals and I call them Bomb Cakes. A friend of mine forgot about hers, and let it sit fermenting way to long, eventually, it blew the lid off and the fruit went all over. It about scared the beeejeebers out of us when the bomb blew.

LOL.

Am sure someone will have the recipe for you!

Question about fruit evolution?

My friend and I were recently discussing plant evolution when we came upon the topic of fruit. Evolutionarily speaking, what purpose does fruit serve to a plant? What evidence is there for fruit evolution, and what did animals eat while fruit and veggies were still evolving?

Question about fruit evolution?
Fruits always contain seeds. Animals pick the fruit and travel with it to a place where it's safe to rest and eat it, or take it home to feed its young. Then it eats the fruit, discarding the seeds. This helps the tree to spread it's seeds, colonizing places far away from the mother tree, and avoiding competition for nutrients between mother and daughter.

Alternatively, the fruit is eaten with seeds but the seeds come out with the feces. Again, since it takes some time before the animal (usually a bird) gets it through its digestion system, the animal is likely to have moved to another place.

Veggies are different. It is not in the interest of the plant to be eaten and many plants developed toxins or thorns to avoid being eaten. But herbivores, in turn, developed enzymes that can neutralize the toxins.

Cultivated veggies are not a result of natural selection, but of artificial selection: farmers selected the seeds from the better-tasting, more nutrient veggies. Therefore, the evolutionary history of veggies is shorter than that of fruits, and veggies are therefore less adapted to being eaten than are fruits: most veggies contain far less calories than fruit do and many contain bitter-tasting compounds, which cause children (and pregnant women!) to dislike them. Those bitter-tasting compounds are typically toxins that evolved to protect the plant's wild ancestor against herbivores.
Reply:There is a wonderful book about this, "The Ghosts of Evolution", by Connie Barlow. (pub. in 2000, by Basic Books) She writes about plants that co-evolved with animals long ago. The animals died out, the plants didn't. Osage oranges, for instance, are still waiting for the mastodons to come back.

A fruit is a plant's gift to an animal; "Here", momma tree says to a mastodon, "eat this, walk a ways and give my child a good home."

The seed ends up hundreds of yards or tens of miles from momma tree, so they don't compete for sunlight and water. It starts life in a fat pile of fertilized soil, moderately hidden from squirrels. The mastodon (horse, cow, elephant, raven . . .) gets a snack. Everyone is happy.

If a tree evolves fruit for a big herbivore, and those big herbivores die, the tree is left to scatter its seeds as best it can, because a blue jay isn't going to swallow an osage orange whole. The fruits roll downhill or are sometimes washed into a river and end up downstream. (If there is a flood, they may end up a couple of miles from the normal river channel.)
Reply:it's purpose is to help it disperse it's seeds therefore ensuring the survival of it's kind.

If the fruit is eaten by an animal, the seed is not digested. In fact, it will be passed out and grow onto of a nutritious culture.
Reply:fruit is delicious so that animals will eat it and spread the seeds.before fruit evolvled, animals ate mostly confers and ferns

How should I store Fresh Fruit?

I am intending to leave fresh fruit outside the refrigerator, on the open cabinet. I am using "a modified version" of a fruit basket to store these fruits.

I am using the dome-shaped glass form from a broken light fixture. - This dome is smoothe glass with a single small hole (1 inch diameter) at the center where it was fastened to this fixture.

I am seeking any "modifed versions of bottom "nesting" to set my fruit into this fixture so that it will give the fruit enough air to stay fresh. Could I rely on a few large gravel rocks in the bottom of this glass fixture to provide enough air for this purpose or should I build something else to fit the bottom if it is necessary?

(I am hoping to store fresh fruit as long as I potentially can; keeping it fresh.)

Thanks.

How should I store Fresh Fruit?
How about a wooden trivet, that has holes, like a tic tac toe board? Try Garden Ridge or a pottery outlet/kitchen store
Reply:fruit doesn't stay fresh for long, only buy what you think your going to eat within a few days.

if you put unripened fruit in a sunny window it helps ripen it off. so put it somewhere dark it has the opposite effect.

also buy fruit that isn't quite so ripe like green bananas.

Is milk/fruit not a good combination?

All the suggestions for a nutritional breakfast contains something like "milk+(carbo)+fruit", but I heard that the acid in fruits makes milk hard to digest and the calcium lost. Is that true or only for some particular fruits?

There're many drinks that include milk and fruit. I also heard banna + milk/yogurt is bad?True?

Is milk/fruit not a good combination?
Yes...

There both healthy for you.

As long as you don't have a hot shower after...

The milk may bubble in your stomache and upset it.

lol.
Reply:It is true that some people are bothered by the combination of citrus fruits and milk. I personally cannot eat/drink them at the same meal. It upsets my stomach really bad. Banana's are a fruit almost everyone can eat and digest properly with milk - one reason why it is usually the first fruit a baby gets. The combination of banana and milk/yogurt is not bad at all in fact is a good source of potassium ( helps stop leg cramps and muscle spasms.).

What fruit option is the healthiest?

Is it healthier to take fruit and juice it (nothing added), just eat a whole fruit plain, or take fruit and make a smoothie (nothing added but fruit)?

What fruit option is the healthiest?
With little effort, you can transform fresh fruit into interesting and delicious creations. Here are 10 ways to reinvent these sweet options.

Nature offers many sweet choices for eating well: juicy red cherries, plump purple plums, and orange, luscious tangerines, just to name a few. In fact, all fruits fit into a colorful and healthy diet.

You can enjoy fresh fruits as they come: whole or perhaps sliced. But with minimal work, you can transform fresh fruit into lively snacks, side dishes, desserts and meals. Here are 10 ways to reinvent and rediscover these sweet options.

Grilled fruit slices. Cut apples, pears or peaches into chunks, brush lightly with canola oil and sprinkle with cinnamon. Place on skewers or wrap in foil. Grill on low heat for 3 to 5 minutes.

Peach honey spread. In a bowl, add 1 sliced peach, 2 tablespoons honey and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Mash with a fork until the mixture is the consistency of chunky applesauce. Serve as a topping for pancakes or French toast, or serve it over roast chicken or pork.

Lemon-lime fruit dip. Mix together 1/2 cup low-fat, sugar-free lemon yogurt, 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice and 1 teaspoon lime zest. Serve with pineapple chunks, strawberries, diced kiwi, sliced bananas and grapes.

Frozen fruity pops. In a blender, add sliced strawberries and bananas, 1/4 cup orange juice, and 3/4 cup low-fat strawberry yogurt. Blend until smooth. Pour into 2- to 3-ounce molds or paper cups with sticks placed in the centers. Freeze for 3 hours or until completely frozen.

Romaine and fresh strawberry salad. Combine 2 cups romaine lettuce and 1/2 cup sliced strawberries in a bowl. Drizzle with 1 1/2 tablespoons raspberry vinaigrette dressing and toss well. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon cashews.

Blueberry-banana smoothie. In a blender, add 2 fresh or frozen bananas, 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries, and 1 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt. Blend until smooth.

Plum salsa. Mix together 1 cup chopped plum, 1 teaspoon dried cilantro, 2 tablespoons chopped onion, 2 teaspoons cider vinegar, 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce and 1/8 teaspoon salt. Serve with roasted or grilled chicken breasts.

Broiled fruit kebabs. Place cubed fruit, such as cantaloupe, pineapple, mango or honeydew, onto skewers. Place skewers on a baking sheet and sprinkle with brown sugar. Broil until slightly bubbly, about 2 minutes on each side.

Berries a la mode. Place 2 cup berries, such as raspberries, blueberries or strawberries, in a baking dish. Sprinkle with 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/3 cup low-fat granola. Bake at 350 F until fruit is bubbling, about 30 minutes. Top each serving with 1/2 cup fat-free vanilla ice cream.

Mango salsa pizza. Mix together 1 cup chopped red or green bell peppers, 1/2 cup chopped onion, 1/2 cup chopped mango, 1/2 cup chopped pineapple, 1 tablespoon lime juice, and 1/2 cup fresh cilantro. Spread over a 12-inch prepared pizza crust. Bake at 425 F until the toppings are hot and the crust is browned, about 5 to 10 minutes.

Glucose content in fruit skin?

which fruit SKIN has the highest glucose content? and the second most and third and so forth...

how long does it takes the yeast to get the glucose out of the fruit SKIN? can give examples of some common fruits skin.

note: what i would want is the fruit SKIN not the fruit itself.

pls help me . thanks. XD

Glucose content in fruit skin?
Hi Sneezywheezy,

The glucose content of a fruit's skin will be minimal in most, if not all, fruits.

The reason for this is that the skin's purpose is to serve as a protective layer for the fruit (which is the reproductive "seed" of the plant).

Glucose is produced by a plant as its food and serves the same purpose in its fruit/seed. This food is stored in the fruit/seed to provide it with enough energy to propagate, until it can start to produce its own food.

That does not mean that all skins should be discarded or that they are not beneficial to humans. Many fruits have valuable nutrients and fiber, and even have medicinal value. Some fruit skins actually assist your digestive track with the digestion of glucose.

I hope this helps.

What kind of (fruit? nut?) tree do I have?

I have a tree that is growing fruit!... but what kind of fruit is it? Is it a nut?

I bought what I thought was a shade tree last year. Well, early this season, it has started growing fruit. The only problem is... I have no idea what kind of fruit it is!

The leaves on the tree are short, fat, round, shiney (like a silver dollar tree). The tree itself is about 8-10 feet tall (still growing!). The fruit is fuzzy (but they're not peaches!)...

Any ideas?

What kind of (fruit? nut?) tree do I have?
Is it small like a apricot? If so maybe it's a loquat. They are yummy little apricot looking fuzzy fruits. and inside they have 2 or 3 smooths big pits... Be careful with the pits though I heard they contain sianide (sp)
Reply:maybe cumquat

Reply:Well I'm assuming you got your money's worth then, not only are you getting your shade but you've got some buy one get one free deal going on here.

I think I know the leaves your talking about. Are they kinda furry on the bottom, like they have little white hairs?

I think the fruit could be a exsorbent number of things. The fact of nature is that tree make their seeds yummy so that animals will eat them and later poo them out and the seed will have fertilizer to grow with.

If your a little hesitant on eating them, have your friends (or not your friends) try them out first, your local grocer could have them, at the very least, someone would know what it is.

Dried fruit?

I am a compulsive nibbler and love to eat. To keep my weight in check, I've been eating a lot of dried fruit and I mean a LOT. I eat the stuff that comes in bulk from Wegmans called the Fat Free Fruit Delight. It's got dried apricots, apples, papaya pineapple and cranberries. i also add about a scoop and a half of dried, unsweetened banana chips. I'd say I eat about 1 1/2 to 2 cups of this stuff a day. How calorific is this snack? How many calories in dried fruit in general? Am I actually ruining my diet with this dried fruit snacking?

Dried fruit?
It is a healthy snack!

That is so much better than us eating pie, cake, donuts!

NO GUILT over fruit!!

Reply:actually, yeah you're definitely ruining your diet.

dried fruits has a TON of calories. it's basically your normal fruit dried up into very small pieces. less is more calories.

if you really want to nibble %26amp; really want something sweet, then chew on sugar-free gum. that's what i do. my personal favorite: trident. it has lots of fruity flavors and minty flavors, it's sugar free, only 3.5 calories per stick (%26amp; i chew half a stick at a time), %26amp; lasts FOREVER! you can buy them in bulk packs at Sam's Club for a lot cheaper price than if you buy them seperately. %26amp; you'll have a never ending supply if you do that too!

Can fruit lose it's nutrients?

I'm going to buy me a blender, I want to make fruit drinks (no milk or ice cream) just fruit. Will the fruit lose nutrients from being blended. I was told that, but I don't think that statment is true..you're bascially just cutting the fruit, right?

Can fruit lose it's nutrients?
With some fruits nutrients are in the skin or peel but I wouldn't worry too muich they have plenty to go around
Reply:no, as long as you drink all the juice that comes from it. Cooking it "kills" the good stuff.
Reply:As long as you eat them immediately, they don't lose their nutrients.
Reply:You will lose a small amount of nutrients if you peel the fruit (like apples). But otherwise you will be OK.

We are supposed to get 5 servings of fruits and vegetables everyday. You will be beyond that with your fruit drinks so you will be a few steps ahead of most people.

Also change your fruits daily. Make sure that throughout the week you get a lot of colors in that blender. This is how you cover your maximum vitamins and nutrients.
Reply:Yes, it will.

Fruit and Vegetable diet - too much weight loss?

I recently found an article about eating primarely fruits and vegetables to obtain optimal health and weight loss. I started this about three days ago and have been eating as close to 9 servings of both fruit and vegetables as I can with some meat and non fat dairy. I also started working out about a week ago. I do 30-60 min of cardio and some mild weight training.

I've lost 10LBS in the last week.

I've gotten on and off the health wagon multiple times in the last few years, and have NEVER experienced this type of weight loss at the start of a program. I don't fad diet, I just keep my calory consumption under 1500 and work out. This is the first time I've made a concious effort to increase my vegies and fruits though. But I've never seen weight loss within the first month even. Is this normal? Is there something I should be concerned about? Why would I lose weight so quickly this time and not the others?

I appreciate any information that can be provided on this.

Fruit and Vegetable diet - too much weight loss?
Make sure you are getting enough grains too, but other than that, it sounds healthy! Good job!
Reply:It's ok. That is a VERY good plan you're on right now!!! That, combined with the fact that most people see the most dramatic weight loss in the first few weeks, is the reason for losing 10 lbs. As long as you're still getting enough meat, dairy, and whole grains, you're doing great. Good for you and keep it up!
Reply:Hello.

My opinion is that is pretty dangerous and unhealthy to actually live only on fruits and vegetables.

It's healthy to combine more vegetables and fruits to your diet but to rely only them !

You'll be missing many vitamins and I think that your weight loss won't be so health because your are practicing pretty hard and barely get protein.

I've heard about soy to but that's not enough you have to have some sea fruits like fish for example ! fish contains high amount of protein and other things that I think that won't necessarily be in vegetables and fruits.

Furthermore I think that consuming only 1500 is very low calorie rate and you have to eat a little more.

Please go counsel a professional and Dr.

Hope I've helped you and take care.
Reply:This seems good just add some legumes and it great.

Will fruit flies go away on their own if fruit source is removed?

I found a piece of fruit in our mud room that had been there for over a month. I won't go into details. There were many, many fruit flies. Will they go away now that I have removed the fruit and cleaned the area?

Will fruit flies go away on their own if fruit source is removed?
Yes eventually. But there is a way to kill them though. Buy some apple cider vinegar. In a glass (I use a wine glass because it is elevated, but kind of shallow) fill half full with water, then pour in some vinegar (they like the smell of this), then squirt some dish soap (like Dawn, Joy, Palmolive, just whatever you have). The vinegar will attract them, and they'll jump in, and the dish soap will make them unable to move their legs to get out and they'll drown.
Reply:BTW, A mud room is a place where we take coats %26amp; shoes off (and obviously forget fruit) before we go into the main part of the house. Report It

Is eating canned fruit unhealthy?

I realize that it isn't as great as eating fresh fruit, but when I'm in a rush it is easier to have canned fruit or bring a can of it to work. I do eat fresh fruit to, but is eating canned fruit bad? Am I better off not eating it than having no fruit at all? Are there some brands or types that are better than others? Thanks!

Is eating canned fruit unhealthy?
Canned fruits in natural or light syrups are very good. Your still get the vitamins and benefits of eating fresh. Don't buy in heavy syrups those have lots of sugar.
Reply:canned fruit isn't good for you. it's full of sugar and high fructose corn syrup.

stick with the fruit
Reply:eat fresh fruit or not at all... canned fruit is "dead" fruit with no vitamins and minerals that your body desperately needs...
Reply:most canned fruits have tons of added sugar, look for the sugar free variety
Reply:Eating canned fruit is not a good idea because it does have a higher sugar content and is sometimes filled with additives and preservatives to prolong the shelf life. I suggest if you are trying to consume foods that are healthier, that you just pay the extra change and get what is good for you in the long run. Canned anything is not completely the greatest for you. You may just want to go ahead and purchase fresh fruits from your local farmers market or fruit stand. It is less expensive than buying them out the grocery store.

Reply:its good to eat if its packed in its owned juice and thats the kind i usually buy. the other stuff that is in a syrup isnt good for you its got alot of additives.
Reply:Canned fruit has alot of additives %26amp; also added sugar. If you are going to get fruit, might as well eat it fresh. You will get more of the vitamins that way.
Reply:it's not a good idea if the product is sugar added.
Reply:Just remember that canned fruits have added sugar and preservatives which make them more unhealthy. Who wants that extra sugar in canned pineapples when fresh pineapples are loaded with vitamins and antioxidants?

Fruit Ripening?

If you put unripe fruit next to ripe fruit, will the unripe fruit ripen faster? In a paper bag or on the counter both?

Fruit Ripening?
the fastest way is to put ripe bananas in a paper bag with your unripe fruit. the banana gives off a ripening gas that speeds things along.
Reply:Yes they give off a gas that ripens them faster. I n a paper bod would do the trick.
Reply:I think it's only bananas that make other fruits ripen faster.
Reply:It's not just bananas. Try it with an apple too. or a pineapple. or peaches. or mangoes. or any fruit that ripens.

If you have an unripe fruit and put it in a paper bag with a ripe fruit, REGARDLESS of what kind of fruit it is, then the unripe fruit will ripen quicker.

The gas that does this is called ETHANOL, for your information. :-)

Fruit eating on a diet?

Hey

I was wondering if I’m on a diet and eat alot of fruit then doesn't the fruit give me loads of sugar and energy and therefore how does it help me loose weight?

I can eating fruit help loose weight if it’s so full of energy?

Thanks

Fruit eating on a diet?
Hi the sugar in fruits is mainly fructose which is metabolised differently by the body and leads to less weight gain. You do need a balanced diet but eating fruit and veg in moderation is the way forward- balancing with good carbohydrates like wholegrain breads and cereals and light meats like chicken.

I'd say anything more than 10 fruit portions in a day is a little excessive but far better than having something like an energy bar or crisps/chocolate etc.
Reply:There are different types of sugar that your body processes differently. The sugar in fruit does not automatically get stored as fat quite as easily as, say the sugar on a powdered donut.

Fruit is just healthier, OK. Your body desperately needs the vitamins and phytonutrients and fiber and who knows what other good stuff that is naturally found in fruits.
Reply:Fruit does contain fruit atural sugar and if you have a lot of fruit, u could gain weight i supose and be very energetic, but u at least need vergetables in ure diet!

Gumps

Why are most fruit cocktails in a can kept in fruit syrup, when fruit is naturally sweet enough as it is?

Over here in New Zealand we call it Fruit Salad and only a few brands have the fruit kept in clear fruit juice.

Why are most fruit cocktails in a can kept in fruit syrup, when fruit is naturally sweet enough as it is?
The sugar in the syrup acts as a preservitive to keep the fruit fresh longer.
Reply:TO KEEP IT FOR LONG TIME
Reply:The sugar syrup preserves the fruit so that it last longer. You can even use the syrup for other purposes.
Reply:and why is there only half a cherry in a can?

The king and the fruit sellers- Riddle and Joke?

Once, there was a king who rule a kingdom. As he was walking down his streets he was angry to find fruit sellers selling fruits in the middle of the road, because that only cause traffic jams. So he gather all the fruit sellers in his city and demand that they have their stalls set up at the sides of the road and he warn that if he still find anyone of them still selling fruits in the middle on the road, as a punishment he will stick whatever fruit they are selling into their ***.

On the 2nd day,as he makes his checks,he saw a banana seller selling banana in the middle of the road, so he order his men to take him back and as what he said he will do, he stick the banana into his ***, it was so painful that the banana seller plead for mercy and ran off never to sell fruits in the middle of road again, and as he continue his checks he sees a mango seller too selling in the middle of the road, so he order his men to bring that mango seller back and inflict the same punishment....

Fruit Pizza / Fruit Cookie recipe?

I think this dessert is called fruit pizza. I think it's a sugar cookie w/ something white (cream cheese or whipped cream?), then fruit put on the top. What's the recipe?

Fruit Pizza / Fruit Cookie recipe?
Fruit Pizza Recipe courtesy Paula Deen, 2005

Pizza Dough:

1 package store bought sugar cookie dough

Toppings:

8 ounces softened cream cheese

1 cup confectioners' sugar

1 large peach, sliced

1 large green apple, sliced

1 large orange, sectioned

1/2 pint fresh strawberries, sliced

6 ounces fresh blueberries

6 ounces fresh raspberries

1/2 cup white chocolate chips, melted

1/2 cup chocolate syrup

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Flatten cookie dough onto a 6-inch pizza pan. Bake until firm to touch, about 11 to 15 minutes. Cool. In a medium bowl, blend cream cheese and sugar. Spread the baked cookie with the cream cheese mixture and decorate with sliced fruit. In a small bowl, combine melted white chocolate with chocolate syrup. Top the pizza with remaining berries and chocolate mixture. Slice and serve immediately.
Reply:A simple pizza recipe:

1 roll cookie dough

1 container frosting, or homemade icing

Bits of fruit/candy

* Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough for the thin 'crust.' Bake according to directions on package. When cool, lather on frosting for 'sauce'. Add desired fruit/candy toppings. :) Hope this helps.

Fruit Flies?

Is there anything I can spray on myself or any perfume I can wear to KEEP fruit flies from buzzing around me I have tried the some things I seen here and there:

Fruit Fly Trap:

Need: 1) a glass jar, any size, but taller than wide

2) a piece of paper

3) a piece of masking tape

4) a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar

5) a piece of decaying fruit

and

This will rid your house of them for good. I use it constantly.

1/4 cup of vinegar

1/4 cup of apple juice

3 drops of clear dishwashing soap

I have no food out I checked behind refrigerator and we don't even eat at home anymore because of it so any suggestions?

We have poured/sprayed so much bleach and ammonia and vinegar down our drains and other various chemicals we hired a cleaning service to come in 2 times a month and it does not help!

Fruit Flies?
I don't think you have fruit flies. There are many small flies that can infest a house and if you don't have any exposed food, fruit flies would disappear within a few days.

I would get a bug bomb pack and bomb the place. Be sure the insecticide used is cypermethine aka Demon. This stuff is safe for indoor use (after the initial bomb) and has a long residual effect so you shouldn't have to do it again.

Good Luck

PS - Sometimes basement drains dry up and let sewer gnats in - be sure to pour some water in there about once a month!

Fruit only for lunch?

wondered if eating only 5 portions of fruit for lunch is bad for your health?

If i eat cereal in the morning then for lunch 5 pieces of fruit, then a full proper meal in the evening will i loose or gain weight? With all the sugar in the fruit would i put on weight?

Also, because i eat very little fat (only in milk and full evening meal) will my body start storing any fat that i do eat, so i will put weight on? v confusing......

Fruit only for lunch?
If you eat over the amount of calories your meant to have in a day then you will put on weight (I think it's 2000 for a woman) People very often confuse being 'fat' with eating fat and think if they cut down fatty foods they will loose weight but it's not true. Fat does hold a lot of calories, but so does stuff like sugar and bread etc... Just make sure you look at the back of the packet.

Try eating the fruit for your breakfast instead, you could make a friut salad or something the night before. I find it more filling than cereal and then you can have a sandwich or a salad for lunch then.
Reply:its bad for lunch eat fruit with a sandwiche
Reply:Calories are calories, you will lose weight if you exercise also, fruit is great, lots of natural vitiamins..
Reply:It sounds fine to me. I wish I could afford to eat five pieces of fruit a day.

Hope you lose weight.
Reply:its gooood!
Reply:Healthy weight loss

Maybe it sounds too good to be true but all you have to do to reach your ideal weight is eat as much fruit as you can every day! If you don't believe it or just want to know more you definitely have to read further but you might want to calculate your ideal weight first.

First we think it's best to focus on feeling good. Secondly to remind that in order to live a healthy and energetic life in a body that is fit to do that job, attempting to lose weight only will not be the key. There are some other changes you might want to bring into your life. In order to have the cells of your body function properly they have to receive the right nutritious elements and toxins must be kept away from them as much as possible and should be disposed of properly. In order to reach that goal we have the following recommendations for you:

1) Consume as much as you can of the 'right nutrition';

2) Avoid as much as you can of the 'wrong nutrition';

3) Exercise moderately;

4) Be happy with every small change you've been able to make permanently;

5) Don't make weight loss more complicated as it is.

1) Consume as much as you can of the 'right nutrition'

After many research a great deal of scientists agree that:

raw fruits and (cooked) vegetables are the only right nutrition for human beings.

If you want to succeed in living a truly healthy life the best thing to do is to consume as much of the 'right nutrition' as possible each day. The more raw fruits and (cooked) vegetables you eat, the more your appetite for them increases and you might end up feeding your body with nothing but the right nutrition!

If you don't consume five pieces of fresh fruit a day yet (raw or squeezed) and you want to lose some weight permanently in a period of, say, six weeks (this period depends on your current eating pattern) the best thing to do is eat (or squeeze) those five fruits every day. If you haven’t consumed that much healthy food for a long time, it is most likely that your body starts to detoxify. You could even get sick!

More about detoxification.

If you have realized a consumption of five fruits a day you are ready to take the next step by consuming even more of the 'right nutrition'. To help you with this we have put together a 'right nutrition' list and a 'wrong nutrition' list. You can print the lists and put them on your kitchen wall. Every time you eat something check if it is included in the 'right nutrition' list or the 'wrong nutrition' list. If it is from the 'wrong nutrition' list try to replace it by something from the right list. If you can't replace the 'wrong nutrition' for some kind of reason enjoy it and don’t feel guilty about it!

Right Nutrition List

In other words: to lose weight it is important to live a healthier life, a healthy life starts with healthy food and raw fruits and vegetables are the healthiest food. We recommend you start your weight loss program by having five fruits a day and focusing on feeling good.

2) Avoid as much as you can of the 'wrong nutrition';

If you want to lose weight quickly just eating or squeezing five pieces of fresh fruit a day will not be enough. We have put together a list of foods to avoid if you want to speed up the burning process. In this way you'll start burning fat faster. You'll have to avoid as much food from the 'wrong nutrition' list as you can. In fact it’s a simple list to remember, only two food groups are mentioned: stimulants and animal food. Now this list might seem simple enough but it is actually quite difficult to find out which products in the supermarket do or don't contain one of the products mentioned on the list. If you check out the labels you'll notice that almost every product contains a stimulant, mostly white refined sugar or some kind of animal based product, often stock.

So, the foods you have to stay away from as much as possible if you want to help your body function properly and thus lose the excess weight are stimulants and animal based food.

Just a bit of exercise will do. It is important though to get some exercise every day especially if you are in a job where you sit down all day. A half-an-hour walk a day will do. Of course more exercise is always better but never feel bad if you can't get yourself to do it. If you just take that walk for at least half an hour each day you'll be fine. Stretching your muscles is also good, it makes you more conscious of your body.

4) Be happy with every small change you've been able to make permanently.

Your body reacts like an oil tanker so if you want to change course it will take some time. Every structural change in the right direction is one to be proud of as long as it is permanent. After making a change it will take about six weeks before a change becomes permanent and part of your daily life.

Be smart

If you want to be slim you have to be smart: change your eating pattern permanently. In this way you'll lose those pounds forever! Remember this: after eating (five to) nine pieces of fruit a day for a few months you'll notice that your appetite for fruit has increased structurally and moreover your appetite for stimulants will certainly have decreased! Try it out, it really is magic!

In other words: the more fruit you eat, the more fruit you eat.. it's as simple as that.

5) Don't make losing weight more complicated as it is

Step five: Just follow the four steps mentioned before and don't complicate things when doing so. Be easy on yourself as long as you are working on it. Just follow the simple steps we give you on this page and eating healthy won't be a punishment anymore. It just will become a whole lot of fun!
Reply:you must have a good meal . some fruit juice

and in the lunch you should have meal with butter

and a very light dinner
Reply:I think you'll loose weight. Think of all that fibre - it will give your system one heck of a clear out! Obviously, there will be side effects. Trust me, I'm a doctor.
Reply:they say breakfast is the main meal of the day.. so eat a big breakfast.. then a smaller lunch and a smaller evening meal. you need to eat fruit and you could mix it with yogurt i make a smoothie as us women need the calcium. youll hav to watch for overdoing it with the fruit but i dont see why eating fruit for lunch isnt good for you..you need to drop 500 calories and exercise to see any beneft.watermelons arenot fattening and i think banas are. but only in large quantities. its more fibre and sodium...good luk

Reply:Pardon if I don't remember this exactly but check William Carlos Williams about plums. Had to do with someone apologizing for eating the plums in the refrigerator. They were so cold and sweet.

If it wasn't him it was Sylvia Plath, but my bet is Williams.
Reply:Do you have Robert Frosts After Apple Picking? You can find it here http://quotations.about.com/cs/poemlyric...

Another famous fruit poem is called Strange Fruit. Information about this poem and the subsequent song by Billie Holiday can be found here http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/USA...

There's William Carlos Williams' "This is Just to Say."

The fragment I remember is "... blueberries as big as your thumb...." something-something ... "waiting for the first to come..."

Fruit flies?

why do i keep getting excessive fruit flies in my kitchen?

I dont have fruit but there are 2 dirty dishes, minimally dirty. I should be able to have 2 dishes w//o creating a world of fruit flies!

Fruit flies?
Get rid of all mold, mildew, and bacteria in that kitchen.
Reply:I sujest that you spray your house with spray that is strong for the air and leave the house for a while. sprays like febreeze except stronger bacterial kind.(to kill the bugs or get rid of what they smell)
Reply:At certain times of the year they are hatching, and are especially drawn to vinegar or fruit juice smells. In an office I was in, they were hatching in the plant medium, and there was no food around. They also want to come in out of the cold as it gets chillier outside. I have been juicing grapes and the fruit flies swarm after a bit, but if I put a dish (lemon joy in the water has been said to help) with water in the sink under the kitchen light, they are attracted to that and drown. Or a safe bug spray that has natural pyrethruns is good to spray every once in awhile when the flies hatch again.
Reply:Just take a small bowl and add a small amount of vinegar and cover it with plastic wrap(saran wrap) poke 5-6 small holes in it (a tooth pick works well) and wait a few days. They will conjugate in the dish like there is no tomorrow! Then just dump it out and do it again. Actually%26lt; I think you can add any type of fluid to the bowl and it will work the same. Juice is a good choice.
Reply:Its not the fruit but the disposal..they go down there and have at it...thats why its best to leave nothing in the sink, and

once a month run beach and dish detergent thru the disposal for like a few seconds it freshens that funky smell.
Reply:They are also attracted to certain plants. Maybe there is a plant they like inside or nearby outside.
