I hate fruit juice?

every time i'm at work and i see someone weighing their beverage options and eventually going with the juice, i want to ******* scream. i eat fruit because it fills me up, and that's a big part of why fruit is good for you. it has pectin, and fiber, and often a psychologically satisfying crunch that makes it an excellent snack or meal. but fruit juice, like sobe, like vitamin water, is basically just a bunch of ******* sugar water with marginal vitamin content. am i the only one who has realized that?

I hate fruit juice?
Ok...!! I hear you! I dont even know why the hell they call it vitamin "water"?? its obiviously NOT water! wtf, this has been driving me crazy too....its like drinking and god damn glass of ******* kool aid! Come on idiots!
Reply:i disagree. unless it is soda or really sugery fruit juice, it really isnt that bad for you.

personally i prefer blending an apple, pear and banana with orange juice with a bit of ginger when im at home to make my own fruit juice. its just the fruit mushed up so it still has all the nutritional value of the fruit in their natural form.
Reply:I've tried apple and then apple juice and apple juice actually tastes better than apple. Guess what? Apple juice has loads of preservatives and lotsa lotsa sugar.

I do agree with you about fruit juice, so the best thing to drink fruit juice is to make it yourself =]
Reply:yes u r right

but it is beneficial when u have eaten something like breakfast or meal, lunch, and after that fruit juice will act as supplementary.
Reply:No and I am sure everyone knows we shouldnt drink our calories, but rather eat them. The problem is if it tastes good people dont care.
Reply:It is your own thinking. You must know that many times doctors advice the patient to take juice.
Reply:i hate it too...everythings artificial bull...
Reply:yea thats true but sunny d is still good for you, try plain orange juice, or make it yourself.
Reply:Fruit Juice hates you too.
Reply:stop bitchin n dont drink it
Reply:no..but this is the reality ,,we have to drink ..at least better than soft drinks...
Reply:okaii well i know egsacelly what you arev talking about me i only like some juices mostly only cordial and orange juice and apple juice thats all but if people wanna drink it its okaii its there body and brains let them do as they wish if they get sick or something its there own faul..
Reply:I agree except for some people who have illnesses and can drink more than eat (cancer patients and that sort of thing). Vitamin water IS garbage, tastes good with alcohol but way more calories than an actual vitamin and water. The fiber point is excellent as people don't get nearly enough these days.

Sometimes you want the juice though. If you can account for it in your daily intake then why not. It's not your body so relax. Do you get mad when people overcook their veggies since they lose vitamins toooo?
Reply:Hey!!

Yea, fruit juice isn't that great to be honest.

If a fruit is seedless, does that make it a vegetable?

Since fruit is defined as having seeds, perhaps there should be a different phrase used instead of the oxymoron "seedless fruit."

http://redfruitdiet.com/2007/10/if-fruit...

If a fruit is seedless, does that make it a vegetable?
Vegetables are edible plant parts that are not involved in sexual reproduction -- leaves and leaf parts, stems, roots and derivative structures of those organs -- e.g, tubers, tendrils.

Fruits are matured ovaries with any accessory parts. Fruits do not have to contain seeds to meet the botanical definition of fruit.
Reply:This is a question not unlike which came first? The chicken or the egg!

Having seeds or not having seeds does not determine it fruit or vegetable.

Q: What determines if something is a fruit or vegetable?

Ahhhhhhhhhh the beauty of the Super Highway!

Bonus Answer lol!

Personal note on the egg/chicken

Genesis 2:19

And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

Logic ;

Chicken came first it had to be able to sit on the eggs.
Reply:A "seedless" fruit like some varieties of watermelon or cucumber is a fruit which is picked before the seeds are fully developed. They are not truly seedless as there are small undeveloped seeds in them and if left to grow the seeds would mature. They are not vegetables. Some other fruits that are commonly thought of as vegetables are squash, eggplant, peas and beans.
Reply:how does that work? peppers have seeds yet they are a a vegetable, and cucumbers yet tomatoes are a fruit??
Reply:yes

I'm looking for very good fruit juice drinks, who’d like to submit their favorite home recipe. Only Home Made drinks.

I have berries, strawberries, apples, bananas, carrots, grapes, and lemons. It's the time of year where I slow down a great deal because it gets dark early. Who has to best all natural fruit drink recipe. I use all organic fruits. If you have detail, please leave a comment on my blog at http://connectingus-net.blogspot.com

How much fruit does the farmer have?

The man at the farmer's market thinks he is a mathematician. He likes

to arrange his fruit in nice rows. However, when he lays his fruit in rows of 3 he has one left over. When he lays them in rows of 5 he also has one left over. Remarkably he also has one left over when he arranges them in rows of 7 and 9. 11 seems to be the magic number, for, in rows of 11 there is no fruit left over.

How much fruit does the farmer have?
3*5*7*9+1

=946
Reply:Since 9 is 3², LCM of 3, 5, 7, 9 will be (5 * 7 * 9) = 315.

To be divisible by 11, this means that

(315n + 1) mod 11 = 0

From n = 1 To 11, one of them will be a solution.

315(3) + 1 = 946 which is also divisible by 11.

Hence the farmers has 946 fruits.

Fruit Flies!!!!! HELP!?

HELP!! This is the third summer in a row that I am putting up with fruit flies in my apartment! We are a very very clean family, I am cleaning all of the time. There is NO fruit left out and the garbage is taken out every morning and night. Some of my screens have tiny holes, but I do not open those windows much, only when its too cool outside to run the AC. I live in CT ( in case you were wondering what kind of weather ) Where could they be coming from and HOW do i get rid of them? Its driving me crazy! Thank you!

Fruit Flies!!!!! HELP!?
sounds like a drain fly issue. Put about 2 ounces if draino in your traps, let sit overnight , flush traps in morning.

Should eliminate breeding grounds.
Reply:You need to call an exterminator and definitely the ag extension agency of your area college. The source isn't your home as you say, but another EXTERIOR source (a fruit tree maybe but there are other ways they are breeding and entering THROUGH crevices and screen holes.

Now about the damaged screens...

Your region of the country is where Lyme disease AND West Nile virus were either first discovered or took an early hold.

1. Fix your screens to prevent flying insects from entering.

2. Use a repellant solution or spray containing DEET or others (common brands: OFF!, Cutter among others).

3. There are candles and torches you can employ to repel insects outside, especially during a party or get together going into the night. Citronella is one commonly used type.

4. Mosquitos are hatched as water-borne NYMPHS and mature into the adult insect. Drain all standing water or take other measures (as many people now fancy koi [goldfish] ponds in their landscaping).

5. Question a landowner of an area of where you see potential hazard about it, many are quite helpful and concerned themselves and make sure you let your area pest control administration or ag agency know about it.

6. UNLIKE the available vaccines for horses, there is NO curing treatment or vaccine for West Nile virus in humans. It has varying effects on human, from flu like chills and aches to deadly brain and spine inflammations, paralysis OR NONE AT ALL. Persons with compromised immune response are at highest risk, and while the current thoeries suggest you can get it only once like chicken pox, the fact that you HAVE the larvae and adult flies suggest that other insects can get in through the torn screening.
Reply:Believe it or not but fruit flies can be coming from miles away.

There is too much to copy and paste so I will let you read it.

Fruit flies in the bathroom?

What the heck? why are their fruit flies in the bathroom? I don't keep fruit in there. And I bleach down everything everyweek, and daily clean the shower, has anyone had this problem? what can I do?

Fruit flies in the bathroom?
Make sure you dump bleach down the drains. Second you can use a combination of Apple Cider Vinegar and drop of dish soap in like a shot glass. Yes it will smell of the vinegar but after about a day or two all of the fruit flies will have been attracted to this combination and drown. It works very well I use it in my kitchen when they get bad!
Reply:Kill them all. Bomb the area. You can find one at your local supermarket.
Reply:I had a problem with fruit flies this summer and got a jar and put vinager in it and with in days i got rid of the problem
Reply:you have to take out the stinky trash every day, that causes fruit flies too!

Fruit for a wedding?

I am responsible for getting and preparing fruit for an outdoor wedding reception in September. I need some creative and functional ideas besides the standard mellon balls and diced fruit. What suggestions do you have?

Fruit for a wedding?
make fruit skewers....just bamboo skewers with different, colorful fruits strung on them. try making a chocolate fondue or different dips....it's also REALLY easy to make chocolate dipped strawberries, grapes, pineapple, etc. just buy baker's chocolate or those little discs of choc in confectioner's sections ....melt them, dip the fruit, and put on wax paper to dry. very fancy looking and pretty easy. starfruit is a really pretty fruit as well, and festive for a wedding, but more expensive...so mix that in with lots of a cheaper fruit. yum!
Reply:What about a watermelon basket .
Reply:Try grapes, red and green, orange slices and sharp cheese, which complements the fruit.
Reply:How about:

- fruit on skewers

- chocolate covered strawberries

- orange halves hollowed out and filled some kind of fruit salad
Reply:do the choclate fountain that goes over very well, make a huge tray of fruit and maybe have some colorful fruit dip, if u want 2 dec it out go with the fruit kabobs if u dont want 2 put in a big fruit tray. Everybody loves that fountain. I got my choclate fountain for 20.00 at kohls but u can get them anywhere and u can use it over and over. kids love it.
Reply:My Mexican friends make a wonderful fresh fruit salad served from a hollowed out watermelon carved to look like a basket.
Reply:just pile all kinds of fruit on a tray not cut up or anything. Make sure each table has a good selection. It is gorgeous and really far more appetizing than cut up fruit. Fill the trays with all color grapes and bananas and nectarines and tangerines and pears and of course apples---it is so beautiful and people will be far more likely to just grab a piece of fruit---if not at that time then they will take some to go---I have done it--it is great. It really brings back the horn of plenty idea.
Reply:I highly suggest you have plenty a strawberries and other fruits that are dunk-able in chocolate. That way, you can rent or buy a chocolate fountain and have it as one of the centerpieces of your wedding. My aunt did that and her wedding was the most loved wedding in the whole entire family. Plus, the kids all love it so, if your planning on inviting some people with kids, they'll love it.
Reply:Try getting some exotics like Starfruit (Carambola), Blood Orange (really luscious and deep red fruit), finger bananas, Cactus Pear, Kumquat, etc. Ask your green grocer what will be in season and what will keep longest without altering color or flavor. Also while they are still cheap get to a discount store and get some of those food umbrellas to protect cut fruit from attracting flies and a couple of yellow bug lights or citronella candles to keep the bugs away from the food and diners. Good Luck!
Reply:Okay because it is the fall, lets do fall colors, but tropical taste lets do a mango pineapple creation. Cherries dipped in chocolate, strawberries dipped in chocolate, and white chocolate drizzled on the tips. Or better yet raspberries and other black berries with chocolate candies and champagne. These are dark colors and this is a fall wedding. But you know what ever you do it's going to be a blast. Especially with you wanting to stray away from the traditional stuff. Be successful and most of all enjoy the day
Reply:Start looking now for a vendor and inquiring about the freshness of seasonal fruit. Seasonal fruit always tastes the best. Then go to the library and start looking for inventive ways to create a beautiful display and surround it with the fruit, so that while people are filling their plates they also have some attractive and edible to look at and it doesn't have to be melon and diced fruit, because melon is not in season in september, think apples, blueberries, cranberries and if that doesn't work for you talk to the vendor and find a fruit that will work for you, but discuss the desires of the groom and bride, because if they aren't happy then won't matter how much effort you make.
Reply:Fruit Ka-bobs....strawberry, banana, grape, apple....

Frozen Fruits are excellent,too!
Reply:My sister had bowls of different kinds of cut-up fruit, and then a chocolate fondue fountain at her wedding. It was pretty neat, cause it didn't require a whole lot of preparation for presentation.
Reply:Prosciutto wrapped cantaloupe is classy, easy, and delicious!
Reply:Don't know. But sounds good!
Reply:I also recommend fruit on skewers. Have you heard of Edible Arrangements? If they are not in your area or you don't want to order from them, you can at least look at the pictures to get ideas of making them look great. Their website is www.ediblearrangements.com

How do you get rid of fruit flies? All the bad fruit is out of the house, and I've cleaned the kitchen 10 times trying to get rid of them. I'm at a loss. HELP

Fruit Flies?
Fruit Fly Elimination

Fly Elimination Products

The key to controlling fruit fly infestations is to locate and eliminate their breeding sources. Although there are several sprays and traps used to kill flies in a home, restaurant or other structure, the infestation cannot be eliminated without eliminating their source. A space spray (Pyrethrin spray) can be used as a quick kill, reducing populations of flying insects. Pyrethrin spray is also a crack and crevice tool that is used by pest control operators to spray the tiny areas where fruit flies and other insect pests breed. To monitor the area, use a Gold Stick trap. These traps use a fly sex lure to attract flies to their doom. Every fruit fly caught is one less breeding adult! If you locate a drain that is a breeding ground for fruit flies, use Drain Gel (Fly Gel) to destroy the film in which the fly eggs and larvae are developing. A surface spray is not recommended in this situation, unless there are great numbers of flies resting on the surface of trash cans, dumpsters or exterior walls. Fruit Fly Traps are also an excellent tool for capturing fruit flies. Attach the trap to the inside lid of garbage cans, dumpsters or compost bins to capture adult flies before they breed. Dispose of traps when full of flies or after 3 months. Click here to see fly elimination products. Inspecting the area for possible breeding sources is the key for fruit fly elimination.

Inspecting for Fruit Flies

When searching for fruit fly breeding sources, remember that the larva can only survive in decaying organic matter that is moist. The first obvious place to check is where any fruits or vegetables or stored outside of refrigerators or coolers. Other areas to inspect would be recycling bins, seldom used (or cleaned) garbage cans, underneath and behind large appliances. Do not overlook drains where small flies are often found breeding in the super thin layer or film of debris that naturally accumulates in pipes, traps and drains.

In commercial and residential structures, tiny amounts of organic debris are often found where the legs or feet of appliances, tables or cabinets touch the floor. These tiny spaces can harbor thousands of fly larvae. All small cracks and crevices at floor level need to be inspected and thoroughly cleaned.

Once one source has been located, continue with your inspection. Fruit flies easily follow air currents and usually have several breeding places in any structure. Do not assume that all of your breeding sources are indoors; fruit flies will wander in from nearby dumpsters, outdoor garbage cans or even damp compost piles where fruits and vegetables are disposed.
Reply:good advice in the www on fruit flies but usually they are hovering near a sick plant that they have laid eggs in. As long as you have cleaned everything and are watching for them, they usually will disappear when they find no further food.
Reply:I had the same problem I used a household instect killer %26amp; fly strips %26amp; mothballs they'll keep them away now I smell the mothballs but no more fruit flies..Good Luck
Reply:Are you sure they're fruit flies? They might be fungus gnats, which are really tough to get rid of. You have to keep spraying your houseplants %26amp;/or the trap on your drain with a household insecticide approved for use indoors.
Reply:You can leave an open wine bottle and they'll eventually end up dead in there. I only had to leave on the counter for two days. I don't really know if there's a difference, but this was red wine.
Reply:Moth Balls
Reply:Take a small can such as a tuna fish can, clean it out, put a little beer in it and cover with plastic wrap and seal with a rubber band. Cut little holes in the wrap. They will go in and won't be able to get back out. You can get rid of all them this way.
Reply:get some of that stick tape for flies and hang it up in the house till the flies are all stuck to it
Reply:Chase them out with a burning sage smudge stick. They hate the smoke, and I think it smells great, and stimulates the mind, or something like that.
Reply:You just need to spray your whole house with bug killer and it will kill all the eggs and the flies. That's what happened to my kitchen. I had a ant problem but not anymore.
Reply:lay some fresh Bay leaves around it works like a charm. If the get old bring some fresh ones into the House

Can someone tell me about the DNA of aggregate fruit and multiple fruit?

I was eating raspberries today and I started thinking aobut how I had heard they were aggregate fruit. A simple fruit is one from an ovary with only one pistil. Thereforeit could be pollinated by only one male plant, right? In the case of an aggregate fruit which develops from a flower with numerous simple pistils couldn't the individual pistils hypothetically be fertilized by different male plants? Would this mean that the individual simple fruits that make up a raspberry are genetically different. As if one raspberry is a collection of brother and sister fruit? What about a multiple fruit , like pineapple? A cluster of flowers produce a single fruit. If each of these flowers is fertilized individually, but they mature into a single mass does the pineapple have DNA from some of the flower fertilizations in some cells and sibling DNA in other cells or is all the DNA in every cell of the pineapple?

Can someone tell me about the DNA of aggregate fruit and multiple fruit?
yes, each pistil can be fertilized by different pollen, but generally the properties of the fruit is dependant on the genes of the mother - the flesh of the fruit is mother tissue, so the dna of the seed is not affecting this much. that is why all the apples, cherries on one tree are quite the same even it they were pollinated by different "fathers" - but if u grow the seeds in mature trees, they may differ in their various properties.
Reply:They can be pollinated independently, as a general rule.

A great fruit cake recipie

You'll need the following: a cup of water, a cup of sugar, four large eggs, two cups of dried fruit, a teaspoon of baking soda, a teaspoon of salt, a cup of brown sugar, lemon juice, nuts, and a bottle of whisky.

Sample the whisky to check for quality.

Take a large bowl. Check the whisky again. To be sure it is the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink. Repeat. Turn on the electric mixer, beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar and beat again.

Make sure the whisky is still okay. Cry another tup. Turn off the mixer. Break two leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers pry it loose with a drewscriver.

Sample the whisky to check for tonsisticity. Next, sift two cups of salt. Or something. Who cares? Check the whisky. Now sift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Spoon. Of sugar or something. Whatever you can find.

Grease the oven. Turn the cake tin to 350 degrees. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Throw the bowl out of the window, check the whisky again and go to bed.

Fruit salad marinated in wine.......?

I used to have a recipe for a fruit salad that was marinated in the fridge overnight. It consisted of strawberries, bananas, oranges, melons cherries and some kind of desert wine, the next day you drained off the excess wine/juice mixture and made a type of syrup which was then poured back onto the fruit, but I forgot what it was and can't find the recipe. And I am not sure what wine to use! It was Delicious! But I need help on the specifics. Anyone ever heard of this recipe?? If so, please share!!

Fruit salad marinated in wine.......?
well, I'm not sure which dessert wine it was, but you can use anything sweet. I would use either champagne, or a dessert wine like Muscat, or Sauternes. Like you said, drain it off the next day, then mix it with some granulated sugar and cook it until the sugar is dissolved and pour it back on top.
Reply:A Riesling would probably be pretty good, and if you want an added kick, use a couple of splashes Grand Marnier or Amaretto

I'm adding this paragraph in as an edit.

I also think a Pinot woudl work well too. Not as sweet, but I think it would still be ok.
Reply:I found this, it sounded really nice so i had to find out more

Fruit FLies how to get rid of them!?

I have an annoying problem with fruit flies in my kitchen. i keep no fruit out or any food out on the counter and any open food is in a sealed container. Any natural meaning non chemical solutions to this problem, i have severe allergies pets and a small child so i cant use a lot of chemicals. I hate bombs cause they smell up the house for ages after wards. Any ideas would be apreciated!

Fruit FLies how to get rid of them!?
Attracting them to a trap and killing them is great...i would reccomended this, but the idea is to eradicate them as well. Fruit flies breed in places such as drains so treatment of the breeding site is recommended as well.

In the house hold kitchen there is normally a build up of food stuff in the sink drain... if u are able i would take the S bend pipe off and clear it of any food and clean with hot water. I would then pour a solution of hot water and a drain cleaning product down the sink daily. U should start to see an improvement within a week or so.

Chemical treatments for fruit flies are only so effective as it relies on the flie landing on ur walls and it is not ideal to be spraying ur walls with pesticide. If u find they are landing specifically in a certain place , window sill or above the oven, go to ur hardware and find a product that is suitable for fly control. There are things like sticky strips, and also fly pots that have no chemical in them.

I hope this helps
Reply:I have heard people using vinegar or beer in a dish to attract and drown them. But the best thing I ever used as messy as it is; is those sticky things that you hang. I got a few of those and hung them in my kitchen in a few areas and that got them all in about 2 days. It is a round cardboard tube thing that has a string on the end. You pull the string and a long sticky ribbon comes out, hang it and it attracts the little bugs and they get stuck to them.

Another thing to think about. If they are not coming from fruit, check any plants that you have out. Sometimes you get small gnat looking things from them, especially if you left them out side for awhile and then brought them into the house.

I really hope this helps - Good Luck
Reply:Seeing as you have a child and sensitive pets to look after, you could try asking God to help. He will make a way and those fruit flies will be gone.

Good Luck
Reply:This is funny but take a small shallow dish and put some strong smelling red wine into it and set it on your kitchen counter. The little flies will be attracted to it and drown in it.

At least they die happy :)
Reply:they are also attracted to alcohol

Fruit juice diet?

hi, i would like to know if the 'Fruit Juice Only' diet is good?

is there any risks or short/long term effects?

I mean ONLY fruit juice and water! NO FOOD!

Fruit juice diet?
Of course it isn't good! Fruit juice doesn't even come close to giving you all the nutrition you need to survive. Not enough vitamins, minerals, fuel, fibre, protein, nothing! All you get is fruit sugars and a minimal amount of fibre.

I've never tried fruit juice-only diet, but I hear that it can make you need the bathroom more, and you'll pass mainly liquid. Moreover, the acid level in your stomach might reach unhealthy levels and you may suffer from gastric problems.

If you need to lose weight, for goodness sake DON'T go for fad diets like these. They do more harm than good. The best way to lose weight is have steady, longer-term goals - aim to lose about one or two pounds a week (anything more than that is unhealthy). Cut down sugar and simple carbohydrates and consume more vegetables and fruit (try to have the whole fruit since it gives you fibre as well). Switch to complex carbohydrates. And exercise!

There's no fast-and-easy way to lose weight healthily. If you effect a change in your lifestyle, diet and exercise, you'll lose those (excess) pounds and be healthy, and the weight is more likely to stay off. If you starve yourself with a silly fad diet like this, you'll end up gorging when you finally come off it and put the weight back on.
Reply:Its not a good diet to be on for long but a couple of days is ok if you wanna detox %26amp; feel healthier for a while.

Otherwise I wouldnt recommend it, unless its for medical reasons %26amp; u take all the necessary supplement requirements ie vitamins, minerals, nutrients etc..aswell as being monitored by a health professional or dietitian

Our bodies do need certain nutrients etc..to mend and repair injuries inside us, things we dont see like cells %26amp; things we do see likes cut which require plateletts to clot the blood to stop the bleeding then the white cells get busy repairing from the inside out otherwise u would b a haemophoeliac %26amp; ud never stop bleeding.

So think bout it %26amp; be careful

It would be like playing with ur pet 24/7 without feeding him/her, its a sad fact but eventually ur pets body will give in %26amp; he/she will die.
Reply:Fruit juice is highly concentrated and has lots of sugar added.
Reply:Yeah. HUNGER! Try the fruit and vegetables diet. Only eat fish for meat
Reply:Not good...any diet that wants you to eliminate all (or most of) anything (sugar/carbs, fat, protein, food, etc) is not a good diet. Sure, you might lose weight but what happens when you start eating again?

Fruit juice doesn't have all the vitamins and minerals you need to stay healthy, and it has a lot of (natural) sugar.

The best way to lose weight is to eat a balanced diet and watch your calorie intake...and of course, exercise regularly.
Reply:I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS DIET, YOU WILL END UP WITH HEARTBURN OR SOMETHING. YOU NEED FOOD TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. JUST EAR HEALTHY FOOD. PLUS WHEN YOU GO ON THESE FUNNY DIETS,THE WEIGHT YOU LOSE COMES BACK AS SOON AS YOU START TO EAT AGAIN.

Fruit trees that make a lot of money?

What kind of fruit trees can you buy and grow to harvest the fruit and sell it for a lot of money?

I live in the midwest.

Fruit trees that make a lot of money?
No matter where you live ,to make a lot of money from fruit it should be a rare expensive type, these are usually imported which explains why they are expensive, locally grown fruit is likely to be abundant %26amp; not highly priced. You can also make a lot of money if your plants yeild an abundant harvest ,this will depend on the variety %26amp; geretic trait of the plant %26amp; also the care you have taken in raising it.

It will be several years before a fruit plant will grow into an yeilding tree .The only quick bearing fruiit tree i know of is the papaya tree ,from which you can harvest fruit within a year. This is also true of banana .all others i know of take several years for a peak harvest. For quick results ,I suggest growing flowers or vegetables , first scan the local markets for trends %26amp; demand for fresh produce.
Reply:this is not a quick turn around on your investment by the time they produce you will probably be in a whole different time as far as money goes

Has anyone heard of fruit salad made with tropical fruit....?

Have any of you ever heard of or eaten fruit salad made with coconut marshmallow and tropical fruit? If so how do you like it? And if not, how do you prepare your fruit salad? Or is this method of preparing it, only a hispanic tradition?

Has anyone heard of fruit salad made with tropical fruit....?
yes, it is very good. Get a can of tropical fruit, add some cool whip, mini marshmallow, and coconut flakes, chill over night and serve, you can also toss in a few marachino cherries too.
Reply:Yes its great , would love to have some right now!!
Reply:I have heard of it adding marshino cherries and pineapples.
Reply:I've had something like this before. My family called it "ambrosia", and usually made it with canned mandarin oranges, coconut, marshmallow, pineapple and either sour cream or whipped topping.

I'll admit however, that the best "ambrosia" I had was as a side dish in Mexico this spring. Still not sure exactly what all the fruits were in the salad, but it was fantastic!
Reply:I have had Ambrosia, but my favorite way to eat fruit salad is made with Almond Jello. SO GOOD! All you need is canned fruit salad, Maraschino cherries, and a packet of this stuff:

It is so tasty and easy to prepare. The instructions right on the packet. You can find it at any grocery store in the imported/ethnic foods section.
Reply:dole has a version out with pineaplle, mango and papaya.

the marshmallow version i know is ambrosia but wasn't originally tropical but can be i guess.
Reply:I've eaten tropical fruit salad in Cuba...but no marshmallows. Sound really delish though!

I was wondering if I could appeal to you to pick your knowledgeable brains and identify them??...

Crossing male fruit fly with female fruit fly(heterozygous,, Homozygous)?

if a white eyed male fruit fly were crossed with a heterozygous red-eyed femal fruit fly, what ratio of genotypes would be expected in the offspring?

Crossing male fruit fly with female fruit fly(heterozygous,, Homozygous)?
I have a different answer. First, the eye color gene is on the X chromosome. Let's call red eyes W and white eyes w because red eyes are dominant (which you can determine because the female is heterozygous for eye color and has red eyes).

So, the male's genotype is wY.

The female's genotype is Ww.

Male progeny can only get a Y chromosome from the male, so they will not inherit any eye color genes from him. Male progeny can only inherit eye color genes from the female, and there are two choices here: W or w.

So, half of the male progeny will be WY (red eyes) and half will be wY (white eyes).

Female progeny have inherited one of their X chromosomes from the male, so they all have at least one w. From the female parent, the female progeny can inherit either W or w. So, half of the female progeny will be Ww (W from female parent and w from male parent = red eyes) and half of the female progeny will be ww (both parents pass on w = white eyes).

In total, half of your male offspring are WY and half are wY. Half of your female offspring are Ww and half are ww. Phenotypically, half of your total offspring are red-eye and half are white-eye.
Reply:Since red eye is dominant, and white eye trait is recessive:

Male genotype: X_w Y

Female genotype: X_r X_w

So:

ALL (100%) males of this union would have white eyes, and half (50%) of the girls would have white eyes, while the other half (50%) of the girls would have red eyes.

Is this fruit TOXIC?

In the city of Sonoma CA, there is a row of trees on 2nd Street that produce a Fall crop of fruit that is chartreuse and yellow . The tree looks like a Cottonwood tree (not as tall) and the fruit resembles a human brain, varying in size from a softball to a large Grapefruit. It smells like a cross between a pineapple and pine tree. I have trepidation about eating this fruit as I cannot find any reference to it's toxic nature.

Is this fruit TOXIC?
It's a Scupie. Scupies only bear fruit every seven years or so. Otai Indians would dry them and put the little dried brain figures in a bag with other sacred doo dads. Now they hang them from their rear view mirrors!

They're second cousins, once removed, of the Red Chestnut tree, and, although quite poisonous Scupies contain large quantities of Vitamin C.

So my bags are packed to take a look at the Scrupie Tree. When are we leaving?

Reply:thats grose , i dont know if its tocix but i woulend eat it lol
Reply:ewww..... google it?
Reply:Depending on the part of the country you are in, it is called a horseapple, Osage Orange, Cherokee Apple, or bois d'arc. It is a very hard long lasting wood. I don't think the fruit is edible by humans but not because it is poisonous - just hard to eat.

images of fruit http://images.google.com/images?sourceid...
Reply:The fruits of Osage Oranges look like green oranges from a distance, but up close they look weirdly brain-like. Unlike oranges, Osage Orange fruits are quite inedible, and not only do they have a bitter taste, they will also ooze unappetizing white latex if cut. Osage oranges are not even members of the same family as oranges and other citrus fruits, instead they are members of the Mulberry Family (Moraceae).
Reply:Its a road apple....... yes eat it.

Fruit as in a diet ?

see i was woundering if friut is ok to put in a deit - i eat 3 serving of fruit everyday .... but i kno fruit has suger but is 3 serving amount to alot of suger ? also i eat 3 servings of vegies a day and 3 serving of low fat red meart per week - i like baked fish so i eat the most offtine .....

Fruit as in a diet ?
Depends on the food ;) But generally I'ld say that you shouldn't worry about the sugars in fruit. imo it's mostly the meat that makes people fat. 100g of meat / day should be sufficient for a healthy adult. But I heard the avarage American steak is around 400g :D
Reply:fruit is great! just eat more veggies then fruit, and don't worry about the sugars, just stay away from the unnatural fruits, like the ones with fructoce and all that stuff in it.
Reply:Fruits and veggies are GREAT for you. Fruits have sugar but it's not the processed sugar that does bad for your body. My grandma is diabetic and yet being on a fruit+veggie diet brought her sugar level down. If you're concerned with calories from the sugar then go for fruits like apples and oranges.

Recipes using FRUIT-flavored mini marshmallows (the pastel ones)?

Hi all! :) I'd like to know your fave recipes that involve fruit-flavored miniature marshmallows. They're the pastel-colored ones.

I've found a million recipes online that call for mini marshmallows, and many of these recipes would, I'm sure, taste good with the mild fruit flavor of the mallows I'm talking about. HOWEVER, I really don't have the time to comb thru all these recipes, let alone the time to actually try the recipes to find the best ones.

So, if you have a recipe (of any type) that you really enjoy, which uses the pastel-colored, fruit-flavored mini mallows, please share it. :) Thanks!

Recipes using FRUIT-flavored mini marshmallows (the pastel ones)?
this is super easy and tastes great."Confetti Bars"

1 cup pnut butter ,1/2 cup marg,350 gram butterscotch chips,

1 bag colored mini marshmallows

Put pnut butter, butterscotch chips and marg in microwavable bowl.heat 2-3 min or until butterscotch chips are melted.stir ,then add marshmallows and stir until coated.put in greased 9x9 pan put in fridge until set.keep refrigerated.this can also be done using choc chips instead of butterscotch chips.
Reply:I love to eat them right out of the bag.

I'm sure that any recipe using regular marshmellows save hot chocolate would be good for these.

I'm thinking jello, marshmellows and fruit would be good.

Fruit & vegetable diet?

What do you think about a fruit and vegetable diet? How long should it be for? What fruits n veggies do you recommend? Will you get all of the nutrients you need with this diet and regular vitamins? How much weight will you lose? Thanks!

Fruit %26amp; vegetable diet?
You might lose weight, but you will not be getting the nutrition you need. You will be missing out on your proteins and other essential nutrients. You might also be hungry alot or mess up your bowels (ie diarrhea or constipation). Talk to a dietitian or a doctor. Maybe they can help you set up a fruit and veggie diet with some dietary supplements.
Reply:I don't agree with the Best Answer .Vegetarian diet is very good for health.Everything that is eaten in balance will never harm. If you eat pulses ,soya and nuts you get same protein what you get my eating meat. And people who are vegeterian are less prone to heart disease and obesity. Report It

Reply:If your worried about lacking in protien eat some nuts. They are filled with protien. You dont need to eat red meat everyday, once a week is good. Eat more fish (Omega3) and replace your soda with some water. But the diet is a good detoxifier. Report It

Reply:I've been on a 60% produce diet for 12 years

Protein is overrated. When you get 1500 calories, you got enough.

"fructose is sugar"

That's brainwashing. benefits doctors.

SUGAR is MADE by refining(refining makes anything unhealthy). Report It

Reply:You probably won;t be losing weight but gaining weight. You should try a balance diet with 50% carbs which is friuts and vetetable diet and 50% protein. With out the protein, you will be hungry within an hour and you will eat more and be hungry in an hour.
Reply:I love fruits %26amp; veggies and could live w/o meat, but it is really

important to get enough protein in your diet. I eat a lot of

cottage cheese %26amp; yogurt etc, but sometimes think I am

not getting all of the nutrients that I need.

Green leafy veggies are important, yellow and orange too.

Just get a good varity, and good luck.
Reply:I think more fruits and veggies are good, but I've also heard that we need a certain amount of fats and carbs. Just not supposed to overdo it. I don't think all your dietary needs can be met on fruit and veggies alone. A variety is better as far as which ones to eat. For salads, the darker (like romaine) lettuce is good for you, whereas the iceberg has no nutritional value. The darker lettuce has vitamins and stuff in it that's better for you. You should eat all of the different colors of both fruits and veggies. They all offer different nutrients.
Reply:This is not good. You must limit the number of fruits you eat, fructose is sugar. What about protein and dairy?
Reply:you've got to be really careful with this one. stay on it for no more than a week. it will "clean" you out thouroughly. make sure you eat some beans for protein and i would still eat a yogurt a day to replace some of the good baterias that your body's going to lose. You need those to function properly.

Fruit tree in backyard?

There is a fruit tree in my backyard that was there when we moved in. The fruit is citrus and yellow so we think it's a lemon. It tastes similar to a lemon, but it smells like it would be sweet. It smell kid of like a grapefruit maybe? Any idea what it is?

Fruit tree in backyard?
Depends on the size of the fruit. Grapefruit aregenerally larger than lemons (at least 4 inches in diameter) and round instead of oblong. If the fruit is small and round, it could be a Mexican lemon. Cut one open and taste it.
Reply:Could be a Meyer's lemon which is a natural cross between lemon and sweet orange.

If it smells like a grapefruit, it surely could be; however it should be larger. Ask neighbors or see what's about the neighborhood. If it is grapefruit and the fruit is undersized when ripe, eat what you want, but remove the others and get them out of the yard. Don't want fruit lovin' rats moving in to help with the fruit. Then concentrate in improving the tree's health. Contact your county Cooperative Extension Service to get info in citrus culture and possible pests, how to fertilize, etc.
Reply:You didn't give enough information about this tree. The area where you live. What size is this fruit?Lemons aren't sweet. Need more information.
Reply:It could be a cumquat or a variety of lemon. If the leaves smell like limes when you tear them, it could be a key lime.

Fruit Salad or Fruit Skewers?

I am helping in hosting a bridal shower and were thinking of serving fuit, like assorted fruit. But it looks so ugly all mixed up. Does anyone have any ideas. Were thinking of have fresh watermelon, cantelope, pineapple, strawberries, and grapes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Fruit Salad or Fruit Skewers?
If you have a melon ball scoop you can make melon balls using seedless watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, them put some berry berry's in it. Sprinkle the top with the juice of a half lemon along with a little some confection ate sugar mix lightly then sprinkle some choped mint leaves over it.
Reply:I think the fruit kabobs sounds like a great shower idea.
Reply:i think the kabobs would b cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Do the kaboobs and put them on ice in a pretty "crystal" bowl. You could even provide dipping chocolate for them. Yummy.
Reply:go with the skewers! Fruit salad gets mushy too quick.

Star melons cut in pieces, horned melon sliced in sections, kiwi in segments, mandarin oranges and apple slices all set around some caramel sauce for dipping.

Sandy :O)
Reply:I would set it up like a veggie platter, except with various kinds of easy to eat fruits (strawberries, grapes, pineapple pieces, etc) and put a sweet dip in the middle. Someone brought one of those to a party one time and it had a raspberry yogurt dip, it was really good. I am sure you could find recipes for that (or maybe it was just regular yogurt, I'm not sure).
Reply:There is a good fruit dip you can make with strawberry yogurt and cool whip mixed together then serve it with strawberries, grapes, apples, etc.
Reply:Do the fruit tray (melons are good) and in the center, get sour creme and maple syrup. Its REALLY good. You could go all fancy and get a melon baller or get a pineapple, cut it so theres little triagles (in half, top and bottom wise) and use the bottom to put the dip in, its cute. or use a watermelon.
Reply:Well this is what Im doing hope you like it!!\

Fruit cake?

does everybody really hate fruit cake? why is there so many jokes about it?

as a new immigrant in this country, i find it delicious, well, okay i had a few bad ones, but in general it is pretty good! is anyone out there likes fruit cake???

Fruit cake?
In the US, the fruitcake has been a ridiculed dessert. Some blame the beginning of this trend with Tonight Show host Johnny Carson. He would joke that there really is only one fruitcake in the world, passed from family to family. Carson is no longer alive but the tradition lived on with "The Fruitcake Lady" (Marie Rudisill), who made appearances on the show and offered her "fruitcake" opinions.
Reply:I, for one, really do like Fruitcake!! My favorite is made with crushed graham crackers, pineapple bits, cherries, and pecans.
Reply:Fruit cake is great, I don;t know why everyone makes fun of it. I guess it just sounds like a degrading thing to say to someone....
Reply:good question!

i love fruit cake especially in the morning with coffee or tea

the best fruit cake has lots of pecans
Reply:nope, fruitcakes evil
Reply:Yes, fruitcake has been in my family every Christmas of my life. I love it, but most people don't. The secret is to not load it down with too much of the fruitcake fruit that you buy at the store. use more raisins and real marischino cherries instead of the fruit cake cherries. Also too, you need to heat up some applesause and add baking soda to the applesauce to make it foam up and brown. That makes the cake more moist and dark.

In the fruit of the loom commercials, what is the guy dressed in the yellow costume supposed to be?

There is a guy in an apple costume, and one dressed as a bunch of grapes, and some other fruits, but one has a yellow colored costume that looks like a bunch of leaves or something, but it must be some type of fruit, since they are all fruits.

In the fruit of the loom commercials, what is the guy dressed in the yellow costume supposed to be?
In all actuality, the yellow Fruit of the Loom costume is a leaf. A very poorly portrayed leaf, but a leaf all the same. I often wondered this myself, and finally tried to look it up. After about 30 seconds of research (at least it didn't keep me up nights LOL) I found the "Ripe for the Pickin' Fan Page," found at www.fruitcountryvideo.com. There is a bio page, and it turns out the the "Yellow Guy" is a leaf. Apparently he's the percussionist.

Hope this helped you out!!
Reply:I always thought he was the green grapes. But now that you point it out, I'm not so sure!
Reply:i have no idea go 2 askjeeves.com

Is the fruit in fruit cups with syrup processed?
I believe it is, yes.

It's not natural, that's for sure.
Reply:yes and there's too much sugar in the syrup - fresh or frozen is best
Reply:Yes. It has been peeled, cooked and covered in sugar syrup. If you want unprocessed fruit, it needs to be fresh.
Reply:yes it is

Fruit Salad Recipes?

I have been trying to figure out how to make a good fruit salad i have got apples, canalope, grapes, watermellon, blueberry, and strawberry not looking for the tradional fruit salad just a glaze or something. something to sweeten it up a little. any ideas?

Fruit Salad Recipes?
You could drizzle a little honey or maple syrup over your fruit. You could make a plain or flavored simple syrup. My favorite is a ginger flavored simple syrup. It takes the fruit salad from plain and ordinary to extraordinary!

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup water

1 inch piece ginger sliced thin

Place ingredients into a saucepan and bring to a boil stirring until sugar is dissolved. Turn off heat and let this mixture steep for at least 30 minutes for an intense ginger flavor. Remove ginger and pour over your fruit salad.
Reply:oh you people suck. the people that gave me thumbs down obviously have no taste and stuff their faces with peanut butter on a daily basis!!! Report It

Reply:What about adding whipped cream to all that, you could use the french vanilla, chocolate (might not taste so good with the canalope and watermelon), regular wipped cream, or strawberry. You could also add marshmellow cream on the side as a dip.
Reply:SOUR CREAM FRUIT SALAD DRESSING

1 pt. sour cream

1 tbsp. lemon juice

1 1/2 tbsp. sugar

1/2 c. miniature marshmallows

1/2 tsp. grated lemon peel

Stir sour cream and then mix in remaining ingredients. Refrigerate for 1 hour to blend flavors. Excellent for fresh fruit or fruit and gelatin salads. Stir dressing well before serving.
Reply:I don't use a recipe for this, but I think you can adjust for taste.

I use about 1/2 white vinegar with 1/2 Canola oil. Add 1/2 tsp or more vanilla depending on how much liquid you are making. Add sugar to taste. Using a whisk, whisk until well blended. Add about 1 tsp poppy seeds, more or less to your liking and stir. Pour over the salad when ready to serve. This is a very light tasting dressing.

Here is a suggestion using the same ingredients for individual salads. Place romaine lettuce into a salad bowl for the bottom layer. Next, add a spoon of bow-tie pasta. Place the fruit around the edges and a sliced chicken breast in the center. Sprinkle chow mein noodles and slivered almonds over the top. Serve with the dressing over the top or on the side. I always use strawberries and mandarin oranges whenever I make it in addition to a couple of other fruits. I have used the fruits you mentioned as well as raspberries.
Reply:a delicious glaze would be sweetened condensed milk. you can a can of it at any grocery store, and just put a spoonful on top of your salad. i dont think many ppl eat it, but its ingredients are just sugar and condensed milk, simple but delicious. People don't know what they're missing.
Reply:honey and chopped mint

(Pics:http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/im...
Reply:the easiest way to sweeten it up would be some passionfruit, or canned if not in season. you don't really need a glaze as the fruit juices should be enough. try some yoghurt or ice-cream if you think it needs it.
Reply:Slice fruit and sprinkle with sugar. Allow to set in frig for an hour. Stir gently. Serve over shortcakes, pound cake, angel food cake or ice cream with whipped cream.

Fruit Picking?

Hello, last year I got back from doing fruit picking in Queensland up near Ayr, anyway my question is, I worked for this one company called 'Cool Mango's" and they were GREAT to work for, problem is, I cant seem to find that company anymore, i cant find it online or anything, Im only asuming the company was called 'Cool mango's" because when they would pack the fruit, the label on the box was of course "Cool mango's" so does anyone have a clue about this company or anyway I may be able to find them again so I can work for them again?

Fruit Picking?
Couldn't find them online either. They may be a small or sub-company under a bigger corp. and doesn't have their own web site. Try researching them by contacting your original employer. Do you remember any stores or businesses in that area that you could call?If you could research a place near there, maybe you could call and find out what the exact name of the farm/company was. If you were given checks, tax info,or had money wired to an account, you could try to search backwards from that point for info. Good luck.
Reply:produce news paper for picking ----or directory maybe phone book or try old telephone number they may give you a new one closest to a mango i get is in super market usa shop

Fruit Or Vegetable that LESSENS calories??

I remember from awhile back I read something that said there was some kind of fruit or vegetable that lessens your calorie intake but I can't remember the name. What fruit or vegetable is it??

Fruit Or Vegetable that LESSENS calories??
it is said that the body uses more calories to digest apples and celery, for example, than they actually have in them because they are high in fiber. But most fruits and veges take about as much energy to digest than they supply. just keep eating those grenn leafy veges and those hard work fruits!
Reply:Lettuce is the same way. It takes more calories to digest the lettuce then the actual lettuce contains itself. But be careful what you put with/on the lettuce.
Reply:Celery is the only one that has fewer calories than it takes to eat it.

your garden. Next, squeeze some lemon juice over the fruit

can put some cool whip on top. you don't need miniature

marshmallows or a food processer or anything, just do it

this way.

Experts say having only fruits (fruit therapy) for 61 days continuously will reduce one's weight drastically!

.....is it true? Experts also say that when a person is thirsty, he or she should take black coffee or tea (without sugar) under fruit therapy. Can take fruit juice, coconut water etc..etc..! And, breakfast, lunch and also, dinner, only fruits...(it can be either banana, carrot, tomato, cucumber, mango, guava, dates, grapes, orange apple, coconut etc..etc..). Just tell me, is it worth followig this method to reduce the body mass index? Weight??

Experts say having only fruits (fruit therapy) for 61 days continuously will reduce one's weight drastically!
Yes, you will lose weight constantly. But think about it, after 61 days with only fruit, dont you think later when you eat the fat and protein from say meat, you would easily get fat! Speaking of protein, fruits dont have protein. And protein made up of your hair, nails, and the layer protecting your organs! Without it, well, you probably know what's gonna happen, right? And what about calcium, the substance that's made up the bones and teeth. Dont you think your teeth would decay without this elements? Anyway, there's more but isnt that enough for you not even want to think about the therapy?
Reply:Humans are omnivores. You will destroy your metabolism and only lose some water weight.

Here's a great diet:

Avoid white foods! White flour, white bread, white rice, white sugar. Also avoid corn. Corn syrup, corn flakes, corn muffins, corn everything!

Use whole grains and eat meat, fruit, vegetables, and stuff like that. Only eat half of what you'd like to eat, though. And walk 30 minutes per day.,
Reply:That is not true, you diet has to be balanced.
Reply:I have heard of that, but you should definitly check with your doctor first if this method would work for you. Different people's bodies react to diets like these in different ways. You need to be careful because a fruit diet is very very rich in sugar something that could really throw your blood sugar out of whack.
Reply:I simply can't imagine that being a healthy way of living for very long.

Yes, you may lose the weight, but what then? Do you go right back to your same old eating habits? As soon as you start to eat normally you will immediately regain the weight. Not good for the long term. The best bet is to do it healthfully, slow and steady until you reach your goal and maintain it.

Here's a great free website which can help you track your calories eaten and burned each day, with lots of great tips and tools.

Reply:I don't advise you to follow that diet.
