Fruit salad marinated in wine.......?

I used to have a recipe for a fruit salad that was marinated in the fridge overnight. It consisted of strawberries, bananas, oranges, melons cherries and some kind of desert wine, the next day you drained off the excess wine/juice mixture and made a type of syrup which was then poured back onto the fruit, but I forgot what it was and can't find the recipe. And I am not sure what wine to use! It was Delicious! But I need help on the specifics. Anyone ever heard of this recipe?? If so, please share!!

well, I'm not sure which dessert wine it was, but you can use anything sweet. I would use either champagne, or a dessert wine like Muscat, or Sauternes. Like you said, drain it off the next day, then mix it with some granulated sugar and cook it until the sugar is dissolved and pour it back on top.
Reply:A Riesling would probably be pretty good, and if you want an added kick, use a couple of splashes Grand Marnier or Amaretto

I'm adding this paragraph in as an edit.

I also think a Pinot woudl work well too. Not as sweet, but I think it would still be ok.
Reply:I found this, it sounded really nice so i had to find out more
