Fruit Flies!!!!! HELP!?

HELP!! This is the third summer in a row that I am putting up with fruit flies in my apartment! We are a very very clean family, I am cleaning all of the time. There is NO fruit left out and the garbage is taken out every morning and night. Some of my screens have tiny holes, but I do not open those windows much, only when its too cool outside to run the AC. I live in CT ( in case you were wondering what kind of weather ) Where could they be coming from and HOW do i get rid of them? Its driving me crazy! Thank you!

Fruit Flies!!!!! HELP!?
sounds like a drain fly issue. Put about 2 ounces if draino in your traps, let sit overnight , flush traps in morning.

Should eliminate breeding grounds.
Reply:You need to call an exterminator and definitely the ag extension agency of your area college. The source isn't your home as you say, but another EXTERIOR source (a fruit tree maybe but there are other ways they are breeding and entering THROUGH crevices and screen holes.

Now about the damaged screens...

Your region of the country is where Lyme disease AND West Nile virus were either first discovered or took an early hold.

1. Fix your screens to prevent flying insects from entering.

2. Use a repellant solution or spray containing DEET or others (common brands: OFF!, Cutter among others).

3. There are candles and torches you can employ to repel insects outside, especially during a party or get together going into the night. Citronella is one commonly used type.

4. Mosquitos are hatched as water-borne NYMPHS and mature into the adult insect. Drain all standing water or take other measures (as many people now fancy koi [goldfish] ponds in their landscaping).

5. Question a landowner of an area of where you see potential hazard about it, many are quite helpful and concerned themselves and make sure you let your area pest control administration or ag agency know about it.

6. UNLIKE the available vaccines for horses, there is NO curing treatment or vaccine for West Nile virus in humans. It has varying effects on human, from flu like chills and aches to deadly brain and spine inflammations, paralysis OR NONE AT ALL. Persons with compromised immune response are at highest risk, and while the current thoeries suggest you can get it only once like chicken pox, the fact that you HAVE the larvae and adult flies suggest that other insects can get in through the torn screening.
Reply:Believe it or not but fruit flies can be coming from miles away.

There is too much to copy and paste so I will let you read it.
