Forbidden fruit?

in the bible, when they talk about the forbidden fruit what do they mean exactly coz trust me i've heard a lot of wild ideas.

Forbidden fruit?
there are some people in here trying to bring in kabbalistic references when i don't really think that's what you're looking for.

Just as a clarification though:

True, it can be referred to as "da'at" [knowledge], but it doesn't precisely mean hidden knowledge. Knowledge is a fusing. When you have knowledge of something it becomes ONE within you. You know something, and you just know it. Sometimes you can't explain why, but you just know.....[sound familiar?]. This is da'at. The fusing together.

Now the question to ask is, "What was fused?"...... This is seen on the literal sense in the verse. What was it called? The tree of the "knowledge [da'at]" of GOOD and EVIL.... What was fused together? Good and Evil. From this point on Confusion came into the world. In ANY situation, there is gray area, there is some confusion, and we've all experienced it.

Now, as to your question.... Many sources within Judaism say different things. The most widely spread concept is between "figs" or "grapes".

Personally, I agree with grapes.

Requires a lot of study, and understanding.
Reply:A forbidden fruit would be something that you have no right to enjoy.

Example: If a person is married, then forbidden fruit would be anyone except their spouse.

The Bible doesn't tell us what the forbidden fruit of the Garden of Eden looked like - although it must have looked very appetizing..........and the Bible says it tasted good. However, look at the high price they paid for their disobedience. It wasn't worth it.
Reply:I dreamed it was a longish fruit, resembling a pear, only sharp at both ends.

... in other words: how exactly would we know? It's not like it's written anywhere. It's not like it even happened that literal way.
Reply:Knowledge. It isn't sex like many think because God had told his creation to be fruitful and multiply (before the fruit was eaten).
Reply:The fruit represents knowledge.
Reply:No one knows exactly what kind of fruit it was. it was fruit God told Adam and Eve not to eat but they did any way.
Reply:Hidden Knowledge.

The Kabbalah calls it Da'ath.
Reply:Anything some one else doesn't happen to like.
