What does fruit represent here?

I was in my high school (i'm 25 now) and I wanted to buy some fruit at the candy counter, but it was all REALLY expensive. I wanted the watermelon, but the price was ridiculous. I went outside and asked a teacher in a wheelchair for special permission to go somewhere else. He said yes, you can have special permission.

I walked on a long winding path and it led to a grocery store. I went inside and there was a table with a lady. It said, "writing contest" i said I was interested and she said, "oh we have a writer!!" I went to the fruit section. All the fruit was rotten. I looked and looked, I had come all taht way for rotten fruit. But there was a watermelon slice. I weighed it and it was cheaper than the watermelonn at schooL. The lady said "should I put your name down for the contest?" I said "I have to go back"

I wanted to show off the better watermelon and eat it in fron of everyone so I never entered the writing contest. It seemed more important to go back..

What does fruit represent here?
To see a watermelon in you dream, represents emotions of love, desire, lust, and fiery passion. Pregnant women or women on the verge of their menstrual cycle often dream of such fruits, as watermelons. Alternatively, watermelons may be associated with summertime ease, leisure, and relaxation
Reply:This is a dream about what happens when you pursue some career for the money rather than for the love or the passion. You are a writer at heart, but instead of following that, you pursue a career based on money. You would rather show off than follow your passion. It will make for a sad life if you don't write.
