Question about Fruit and Vegetable Supplements?

I do know that it is better for the body to actually eat the x amount of fruits and vegetables per day, but have any of you had any experience with "42 Fruits %26amp; Vegetables Capsules" or GNC Maximum Fruit/Maximum Green Capsules"? I have heard that the GNC supplements are actually powder from the fruits/veggies, but can that really help? Thank you for looking!

Question about Fruit and Vegetable Supplements?
As you already know, the capsules are not a substitute for the real thing. Although they do contain vitamins and minerals from the fruits and veggies they are missing the micro-nutrients and enzymes that are the real power behind the benefits of eating fruits and vegetables.

By having the capsules instead of the actual food won't hurt you but it also won't help either. What you want to do is to use these products in addition to your fruit and vegetable meals to add additional health to your meals. The nutrients and enzymes in your meal will work with the capsules to create a more high powered meal.

Also remember, that the fruits and vegetables in the capsules have been dried and processed so they do lose most of their nutritional value, so for what you get in them they are fairly expensive BUT if you are one that really does not eat enough fruits or vegetables they do make a good addition to your meals.

When my son was in his teens, it was hard to get him to eat correctly when he was out with his friends, so when he had dinner at home in addition to his food I gave him this product and felt a bit better about his nutritional consumption. I know that they didn't add much, but even a little bit may make a difference in the long run.

They are not the most cost effective way to get added nutrition but I felt good giving him that additional edge. I think that they are good if you feel that you need more added to your diet.
Reply:I absolutely agree that there is no substitute for the real thing! The problem most of us face is getting the 9 - 13 servings per day recommended. While I am not familiar with the research of other products, I would suggest you look at the scientific research behind Juice Plus - the process used in processing the 17 fruits and vegetables is unique in the industry. I was first exposed to the product by members of the Exercise Physiology Department at the college where I coached track.
