Does fruit oatmeal count as a fruit serving?

i'm talking about the oatmeal that already has fruit in it...like peaches %26amp; cream or apples %26amp; cinnamon.

does the fruit in the serving of oatmeal count as a regular fruit serving??

Does fruit oatmeal count as a fruit serving?
Nope. If you read the package, most of those not only do not contain a serving of fruit, they often do not contain fruit at all but are artificially flavored. For that matter, instant oatmeal really does not count for delivering the benefits of eating oatmeal, either.

This oatmeal DOES count -

Cinnamon Apple Oatmeal

Into a 1.5 or 2 quart pot put 1/2 cup oatmeal and 1 cup of water. Add 1 apple, cored and chopped, (Peel it if you want to.) along with a pinch of salt, about 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon and a little splash (a tablespoon or so) of brown or maple sugar. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to barely warm, cover the pan and set it aside for 5 minutes. Two servings.
Reply:No,you would have to have a piece of fresh fruit to go with it or fruit juice to count as an actual fruit serving. Oatmeal with fruit would be considered a serving of grains.
