What is the rarest/strangest fruit you ever ate?

Even if it is just strange to you and you ate it in another city or country. (Where?) Or maybe it is not strange to you, but you know it is rare to most others. Or a very scarce fruit.

Or is there a rare fruit that you would like to eat?!

You may add a link if you can find one especially if it is a really rare fruit!

I ate the fruit of the Delicious Monster. It is indeed delicious!!

This is what it looks like if you don't know it:

And Marula from South Africa

A fruit that I stil would love to eat is the Coco-de-mer. A fruit with the most amazing story! And apparently also delicious. It only grows on one of the 115 islands of the Seychelles, Prazlin. So, this fruit is really scarce.

We get a lot of tropical fruits where I live. I love kumquats and we used to have an indigenous citrus fruit called Satsuma which is green and orange on the outside and like a large Mandarin inside but they have pretty much died out.

I have had a lot of different fruits in Mexico, Australia and Europe.

Prickly pears,Durian, breadfruit, longans, lychee all front the trees

I love most watermelons because here in Texas they are outstanding.

Cheryimoya, sapote, we have two Asian persimmon trees at my parents old house

Reply:I think it was called a horn fruit. It had spikes, not really pointy spikes, they were kinda blunt. It was gross. lol
Reply:I tried some prickly pear before... was not impressed.
Reply:Durian. It is highly prized in SE Asia. It smells so awful that it is prohibited in hotels and other public places. In Singapore it is prohibited on the public transit. Wikipedia states the flavor is so revered that there are durian flavored condoms!

It can kill you if one falls on your head. The seeds are poisonous unless boiled. Small areas of the fruit are edible. It tasted to me like rancid garlic custard. Wretch!
Reply:I've had Jackfruit and its the national fruit of Jamaica. I'm not sure they have it here but it's not very tastey anyways. I ate it while I was there on a Mission trip. for a crap-load of info on this fruit fo here:
